There's a reason it's hard to find.

It's not local. Made in Wisconsin since Katrina.

And it's not good.

The Blackened Voodoo by Dixie used to be a solid beer. I haven't had it since before Katrina, so I don't know if they still make it or what it tastes like now. But it's used to be a good beer.

Current owners, despite good intent, lack the capability to bring it back to Louisiana. Probably will continue to be contract brewed in in Wisconsin until they pass

Some of the worst beer out there. Love the cans though.

Back in 1965, when I started drinking beer, I tried a Dixie and said it tastes like 'piss water'. Worse beer ever. I doubt it ever got any better. Went back to drinking Falstaff. I don't know who makes it now since the old brewery on Tulane Ave. closed down.

I liked it pre Katrina with fried seafood poboys. The Wisconsin version tastes a bit different maybe more watery.

Calling it "piss water" is a stupid cliche and tells me people let others make their mind up for them as they parrot the same criticism. Calling it that is especially stupid if your preferred beer is Falstaff.

Is it great? No. But it's serviceable with fried food when you don't want the beer getting in the way of the oysters or shrimp.

You wanna taste a truly horrendous beer? Try Frio Light. It tastes as if it's been aged in a rusted metal barrel.
