Thoughts on Shakeology and other protein powders?

I am new to the world of protein powders and just started doing T-25 Focus today. The goal is to lose a little weight but mostly to tighten it up... I have heard replacing a meal a day with protein is a good way to get results and I was wondering what people think of Shakeology? Is it a rip off or is it any good. Also what are other good protein powders that will enhance the workout results? Recipes? Really any advice will be helpful.

I just ordered t25 and got a bag of Shakeology for half off with it.

I did the shakes for a few weeks a couple years ago. But did them as a snack. You'd have to add stuff to them to really fill you up as a meal imo.

You could maybe get away with it being breakfast though.

What flavor did you get. You can google and find recipes to add to your shakeology. I had the chocolate and loved the one where you had coconut extract and bananas.

I got chocolate. Mine came free with the T-25, as well. I made one for lunch and added a banana, greek yogurt, ice and skim milk...

As far as replacing it for a big mean, i.e. breakfast, lunch, dinner, I wouldn't say do it. It really won't fill you up and you'll end up eating something else anyway.

The best thing a shake is for is to catch up on your protein. If you hadn't had enough during the day, its good to get you where you need to be. Also it's good fr your in between meal. Something to tie you over until you get to your next big meal.

I never suggest them to replace meals. Just figure out a good diet and cut all the unnecessary crap out. That's how you tighten up.

I got the vanilla, heard it's really good.

I liked the shakes and all, they are just so pricey.

Make sure you cancel the autoship btw. When you order the challenge pack you are signed up for the autoship program. They will send you shakeology each month and charge the card you bought it with unless you cancel it.

I eat pretty clean, but the last 5-6 lbs I want to loose just do not want to come off. That why I figured id give the replacing a meal thing a try...

work out sufficiently, and eat as few processed carbs as possible. Our bodies do not need nearly as much protein as the protein companies would have us believe. Also, getting protein and other vitamins from natural sources is eleventy billion times better than taking vitamins and protein powders. Also, it actually burns more calories to digest these foods when they are in their natural forms.

Shakeology is supposed to be different than regular protein shakes cause it has a bunch of different nutrients in it.

Fruit and yogurt in the morning, Meat and veggies for lunch and dinner.. Calories, although I don't count them exactly, are between 1800-2000

I run 5 days a week, usually 2-3 miles a day faster than 6 mph... I generally do some ab workouts (Insanity Cardio Abs) and push ups also.

Interesting... I know you are right about the amount of protein needed, shakeology combines a bunch of vitimins and other nutrients too... That's a different perspective than I have heard, Definitely will keep that in mind.

Types of meat and veggies? Also, amounts of each?

Try running every other day and start lifting more.

Too slow. Try going faster or doing HIIT

Good, but like I said, try to lift more. Lift heavy and with good form.

Try all of this before taking a protein powder, which I will admit to drinking because it's quick and easy but I don't like to.

Fruits= bananas, strawberries, blueberries and tomatoes.

Yogurt= Greek Plain

Meat= Chicken and fish mostly, but I also still eat pork and beef. Portion size is bigger than a deck of cards, for lunch and dinner but not much.

I am starting T-25 so its gonna be high intensity cardio for 25 mins. Hopefully that will do the trick.

No pork. Do you happen to know your blood type.

Not trying to be a dick but lift more. You need to build more muscle if you want to drop the additional fat.

Just go to GNC and ask the clerk what you need. Purchase at least one of everything he tells you (four of everything would be ideal) and then you're on your way.

If you aren't really counting calories how in the hell are you sure what you are consuming? Wait...you aren't. Start there.

When I say said I am not keeping an exact count, that means I am not counting out 6 carrots and keeping exact tabs. I have counted calories before and I have a pretty good understanding of how many calories are in the foods I eat. I am just being honest, that I don't literally count out each bite, however, I am very sure I am within 1800-2000 a day.
