Price for a gallon of Milk

I never realized the price for gallons of milk varied so much around different parts of the country. In Mobile, AL a gallon of milk is usually around $3.89. I'm visiting my parents in Boise, ID and it's $2.09 for a gallon here. Maybe because Idaho has more cows than people? How much is it where y'all live?

Usually around $4.50 around here lately.
Probably depends on how much the dairy farmer lobby is paying off the Ag commissioners in your state to discourage cheap mile pricing.

Ours is usually about $4 around Baton Rouge, sometimes more, but rarely much less...I think there are state minimums they must charge. Here's an article from a few months ago about it: LINK
I'm always surprised when I see much lower milk prices in other states.

2.09? I have a hard time believing that's standard. And Idaho isn't a big dairy state.
ETA: Idaho apparently is a big dairy state. Third in the nation.

Milk is a fedgov controlled product and has been for decades. The price for a region is determined by the distance from Madison Wisconsin the "Dairy Capital" of America when the controls were established.

What I find funny is people pay more for browns dairy milk. When brands such as barbes, market pantry, great value, etc are the exact same thing

I generally buy generic. Except for Publix... theirs tastes a little funny to me. Around 2.50-3.00 for a gallon of store brand in GA.

Funny this thread came up. I just moved to Alpharetta, GA and noticed to price of a gallon of bordens milk was less than 3 dollars. Couldn't believe it compared to Baton Rouge prices

I hear about this every time my family visits from Minnesota. They pay $2.50 or under for a gallon of milk and are floored at how expensive it is here.
Recent story from up there detailing the promo price of milk at the new Circle K stores: $3 for 2 Gallons

Milk. Just another government handout scam like corn and sugar.

I live within walking distance of a dairy. I wish they had a factory store where I could get fresh milk, cheese or ice cream

you don't want to be a dairy farmer and get caught selling raw milk at your farm. A womans scorn and the gates of hell would be easier to endure.
