LSU is even with Stanford, but much better than ND? Stanford and ND are about the same team - physical, good fundamentally, but missing the depth that SEC teams have. ND beat Stanford in a very tight game last year so I don't see much difference between them.

For the record, I think LSU is better than both.

The Stanford team that played ND and lost to them is NOT the same Stanford team we saw the last half of the season. They were starting Josh Nunes at QB for the first half the season, then decided to sit him and start the freshman Kevin Hogan. Hogan is far more athletic and can scramble, and that move really changed the Stanford offense.

With half a season of experience, I expect this Hogan kid to be really good this year.

I agree! I prefer to be ranked lower going into the season.

LSU will be top 10 after week 1 IMO. Great team. I expect them to embarrass TCU.

Didn't they pick USC as preseason #1 last year? Look how that worked out.

Who cares about preseason polls? This ranking will be irrelevant at the end of the year. Michigan was #8 preseason last year and we all know how that went. But I am glad we are a bit more "off the radar" this year.

How can anyone make accurate predictions before the season? Anyone have any info on their track record? I have no idea what to expect from LSU. They could be horrible this year for all I know.

Behind Notre Dame and Florida State(who lost more to the draft than us).

Makes sense. We are playing #1, 5, 6, 10, and 20.

Can't wrap my head around Fla being at #10. Driskel is terrible, the offense as a whole is anemic, they got whooped by L'ville in the Sugar, and I think CWM is still largely unproven. Must be based strictly on defense.

Speaking of L'Ville, that is one team that will most likely finish undefeated. Teddy Bridgewater is the best QB in the country and Strong knows what's up. Hard for me to see anyone in their conference beating them.

That's the attitude the team needs to have but its not true of course.

If A&M/Bama/LSU each go 1-1 against each other LSU would need to both win all their other games against ranked opponents and overcome the preseason bias of the preseason polls to win a tiebreaker

We have a brutal schedule compared to Bama, Ohio St and others. Pollsters do factor where they think you'll end up based on your schedule also.
