They are currently on an 8 game winning streak. Still haven't made up much ground in the central, because the Tigers and Indians keep winning. Can this team keep this up and sneak in to a wild card spot in the AL playoffs? Their rotation is starting to come around, and their bats have livened up ever since George Brett took over as their hitting coach
(and yes, I know that he is now back in the front office). But I think they are starting to come together well, and being fairly young, fatigue at the end of the year shouldn't be a factor.

They aren't going to pass the Tigers or Indians so I don't think there is any hope for the wild card. They are a good young team though.. Hopefully Ned Yost doesn't frick it up.

My team I chose to bandwagon. They've got some talent, but just not enough and David Glass won't shell out the $ it takes to keep guys when they hit their prime.

My buddy is their closer, and he is due for arbitration after this year. Will definitely be interesting to see what they do. I truly believe (from what he and his dad have both told me) that the ownership is ready to spend some money. They have a great fan base in KC so there is no reason not to.

Your buddy Holland is one of the best closers in the game.

George Brett saved Eric Hosmer. Thank God.

He about fricked up the CWS game last week after Coleman came in and got two outs facing one batter

I legit called him up one day and asked him if he was juicing.

It was like one week he was topping off at 95-96, and two weeks later the dude is hitting a hundo on the radar gun. Unbelievable stuff.

Brett must have worked wonders, because the Eric Hosmer in the WBC was an absolute albatross.

I posted an article a week or two back that illustrated the crazy improvement he's made since the day Brett was hired. He made some adjustments to his swing and started racking up those extra base hits. I think his fly ball rate could be better, but I don't doubt it will improve as well. He's only 23, after all.

I haven't followed all that closely and just peeked at his numbers after your post and was impressed.

Seeing him in person in Phoenix at the WBC, I was certain he'd never amount to anything. fricking awful at the plate. No discipline, couldn't drive the ball, couldn't do anything. It was horrendous. Fans virtually sighed with frustration any time he came up.

You know they relieved Brett as hitting coach huh?

How'd the rest of the team adjust in his time as HC I wonder.

Royals aren't making the playoffs though. Yost can tank with the best of them.

Insightful post. Would read again.

Moustakas needs to start producing like he is supposed to. If they could somehow solidify 2nd base, they would be pretty legit.

Pretty sure it was a temporary thing all along for Brett.

Aw. I can see it. It's the Simpsons breakdancing ape.

I'd say the Royals' wildcard chances are better than the Yankees'.
