Kayak ordered - finally took the Hobie plunge!

Hobie Pro Angler 12 will be ready in a week!
Been kayak fishing with my 14' Old Town Predator 140K sit-in kayak for 5 years and have been stalking the Pro Angler since it came out...finally saved up enough money to take the plunge.
I know many people bash the Pro Angler (mostly due to price and weight) but the pros outweighed the cons for me:
1) excellent reputation/quality/resale value for Hobie
2) can still get in shallow water if needed
3) can fish without messing around with a paddle all day
4) can stand up and fish/board/dock (got the h-bar attachment)
5) can cover 10x the amount of territory with the Mirage Drive vs. paddling
6) the seat is infinitely more comfortable then my plastic bucket seat
7) more integrated storage space for rods vs. milkcrate
8) the sightline from a sit on top vs. sit-in is much better
9) has rudder vs. no rudder
10) has drainage vs. no drainage
11) transducer vs. no transducer

How much did that run you if you don't mind me asking.

Massey's actually had a sale on them...
Got yak for $2500 (reg. $2850), H-Bar (10% off) and Heavy Duty Cart (10% off)...total with tax right at 3.
I plan on keeping this thing forever, so I didn't mind the investment.

Congrats man. Not a fan of the PH because it doesn't fit my needs, but it is an awesome boat. Post some pics when you get some slime on it.

It is heavy, I'd never get it on top of my vehicle.
I still haven't seen a used Hobie Outback or better for much less than retail

yea id get an outback if any hobie

I agree - i would never try and put a Pro Angler on top of a car/SUV..it is too heavy. I could barely get my 75lb sit-ins on top of my SUV and get it rigged to my Thule tack.
I just got a truck and an extender bar and it won't be too difficult to load and unload the PA, then I'll use the Cart to drag it to the launch point.

awesome rig buddy. The more I kayak, the more I dislike paddling, especially since it always seems to be a steady wind in my face,

Awesome purchase. The pro anglers look big and bulky at first but they move very well in the water, I'm jealous. Nothing better than being able to fish out of a kayak with complete use of your hands

I wish the seat in the outback was better.

agreed. If I get one i'ma try to rig up something like the pro angler

I've scratched the hell out of the back and top of my RAV and the spare tire holder. The tire in the back makes it even more difficult to load. I had it slide about a month ago and fall on my back tail light and crack it, that's the exact reason I don't attempt to pick it up and lift it over from the side.
After I graduate and hopefully become a CPA I'll get back to owning the Silverado Z-71 extended cab I used to have and get a Pro Angler and just throw it in the back with one of those hitch extenders

Two friends rented pro anglers from Massey to take down to Buras. They are heavy, but not much more than my fs128t. But they were amazing in the water. They were running laps around us with no effort at all.
As far as stability, they could do a jig up there with no worries at all. After what I saw, I would think the h bar would get in the way more than not.
Awesome fishing platforms. I want one. Pedal>Paddle

The Pro Angler is the best thing out there that I have seen. If ya'll haven't you need to check out The Backpackers Demos's on the LSU lakes or surrounding area. They got a deal going on saturday where I think they are raffling off a Hobie and showing people how to set it up, I'll be on a plane unfortunately.

Yeah, the H-bar is gonna only be up when I get in and out from a dock, or if I want to stand and do some sight fishing/leaning post...it is extremely easily to pop up and down.

Depends on your needs. I need something I can car top by myself that is easy to drag thru the marsh or over the dune behind the camp, For as great as the PA is in the water it would be a huge pain in the arse out.

Oh I didn't know that it folded. Still, I don't think it's needed. They were running all around those things like it was nothing. I was amazed. Did you get 12 or 14 ft?
