Wondering about if it is possible to win an NBA title without a superstar or a Big 3? Could there be a TEAM that comes together without big stars but they play well together - well enough to win the whole thing?

Is there a group of guys that make midrange salaries, that the combination of which would be better than the stars on teams like the Heat?

Who would they be?

Or, can you only win if you have superstars?

I would consider the Detroit team from a few years back to be like that.

However, at this time, it would be really difficult.

The short answer, unless you count a team like the Pistons or the Pacers (who have Hibbert and West for 30M a year), the answer is no. Against the heat, a mid level group would be better than about 5 of the Heat's players, and better than maybe 1 starter

Were any of those players considered in the top 20 or so players in the league?

I don't think he's asking if you could win a championship without a single all star.

Ben was their only all star that year. He was also the only one who made all-nba (2nd team) and all-defensive

Ty Lawson
Avery Bradley
Luol Deng
Kenny Faried
Serge Ibaka

bench
Ander Miller
Arron Afflalo
Ryan Anderson
Larry Sanders

There you go. That team doesn't have a single top 30 player on it and would dominate the NBA provided that have the right coach of course

memphis made a good run at it this year without a true superstar... hell, they traded away their best scorer midseason and managed to get better.

This team is way too underrated in terms of how great their individual players were.

That Detroit team is how a team should be put together to win a title.
