I am a beer guy, but recently bought a bottle of Peychaud's bitters, thinking it was similar to a liqueur. Anyway, I googled drinks I could make with it, and found this particular drink. I like it but was wondering your thoughts, knowledge of it, what it is similar to, or even if it could be improved by higher rated contents. Let me know if you have thoughts.

The drink consists of 3/4 ounce rye whiskey, 3/4 ounce benedict, 3/4 ounce vermouth, few dashes of Peychaud's and absinthe. I am using Jim Beam and Martini Rossi vermouth.

Thanks in advance.

Your booze choices reflect something more akin to a Manhattan. Omit the absinthe and benedict. Use 2 oz of beam (although rye whiskey is better), 1 oz of the vermouth, and 2 dashes of bitters (but Angostura works well as well).

Combine in mixing glass, add ice, stir, strain into chilled glass.
