Sister and Brother in law there now with two kids, but looking for someplace to meet friends tonight for dinner that is relaxed, not expensive but good food and beer selection. They are staying downtown.

Tableu has the patio overlooking Jackson Square, but is kinda expensive and not "relaxed"

Lucky Dog in Razzoo's patio?

Seriously...what about Crescent City Brewhouse?

Warehouse Grill had good food and beer and probably the biggest unknown patio in the city. I bet if you sit outside they won't care about the kids, inside is definitely a bar, but the beer list is better than average (the bar is low here) and the chef is semi well known. Give it a shot maybe.
