@ESPNSteinLine: Mavs hope to re-sign James if he clears waivers but legit chance he gets claimed given he's an athletic, blossoming big at less than a mil

Back up plan to Oden? Really like his game. Might be a better option than Oden considering health and cost.

Today we have to decide on Roberts option; 27th for Darius

Going to be an interesting week with Oden meeting as well as James on the waiver wire..

He's a 28 year old 6'10 center that I've never heard of. No thanks. I think we get Oden anyway.

I guess you don't need cap space to claim a guy making minimum wage?

He's pretty similar to Steimsma and Withey, skill wise. I don't see the need

Can you ever have enough true centers that complement Davis defensively?

Lots of options. Could get him and Oden by dropping Roberts haha. Dumb scenario but math works unless bidding war is steep.

So some of you would rather Oden who has no experience with destroyed knees? Id rather this guy over Oden any day.. Less than a million? Why not and he has experience.

James is a Monty type to the T. Military exp. mature player. Defense first.

Could trade a big and aminu type etc for a Jeff green type at deadline like Mac brought up for the tankatron teams. In that scenario we might need another big.

Would be a pretty redundant and pointless pick up with the centers we already have

Most teams have 5 bigs. Smith coming off injury. Not sure about Greg's health. James wouldn't be a bad back up plan to Oden.

All I'm gonna say is that if Dell is willing to give Oden a shot, I am too. All you know is that he messed up his knees in the past. What you don't know is how he has been rehabbing for the past three years and what he looks like now. He was a number one pick for a reason. If he still has the same skill set and looks like he can run the floor, I'd be happy to have him over Bernard James.

Saw a lof of his games 2 years ago when I was a freshman at FSU, he definetly is a Monty Williams player who could play with the 2nd team but probably not a good fit with the Centers we already got.

Looks like James will be re-signing with Dallas.
