Yet another request for advice on Grand Isle/Elmer's Isle surf fishing

I've made three trips down and fished the surf at Elmers. Had one great trip, two not so great. Trying again on Sunday.
In a south wind, do the rock breakers at Grand Isle actually help and make the water fishable, less rough, less sandy? I don't know if I'd be better off hitting Elmers, and if rough, going around the bend and fishing on the pass side (at least the wind would be to my back), or just fishing behind the rocks on GI. What do you wise OB fellas think?
Also, does the little bay behind Elmers that feeds into (or from) the pass produce? It looks good on paper, but for all I know the whole thing is 2 feet deep and barren
Thanks! and if any of y'all see a maroon MDX with 3 big-boned guys fishing nearby, stop and holler, have a beer, etc.

If the surf is dirty or rough, try the bay side of the island.

At the risk of asking for too specific info, where about would you park and get in? You talking about behind Bridgeside, to the east of the bridge, or farther down?

I haven't done it in a couple years, but when I've done it, I've parked at Bridgeside and walked across the street to the right of the bridge(if you're facing it from the island) and fished the breakers over there. I think there are some side streets that if you go down you can park and wade in there as well.
