Heard they are showing up in the passes lately. headig to GI this weekend and have not really targeted these so going to give it a try. Is the bite better on a incoming or outgoing tide - as a general rule if there is such a thing with fish.

Thanks!

To me, it doesn't seem to matter as long as there is some movement. I find that cut mullet does better on GI than cracked crab for some reason.

I'm headed out there as well. Looks like good tidal movement most of the day. I'll be bringing the cast net to snag some mullets! Don't run over two guys in tan ascend kayaks.

I'm also going to give it a try in a couple of weeks for the first time. I was told the west side of the pass. West side by the bridge? Halfway from bridge to gulf? Right at the gulf by Elmer's ? Which area should I focus on? Thanks.

launch at bridgeside, or others, go under the bridge. if you're going towards the gulf, head to the right bank. you'll see other boats.

most anchor right next to the cut that leads to the lagoon behind elmers

We were catching them pretty solid one day and one of the guys with me asked if he could try one of his "lighter rigs." It wasn't a sacalait rig, but it was pretty light. I told him, "Sure, you can try it." A few minutes later one took off and spooled him before he could ever break the line. He said, "Why'd you tell me I should do it?" I said, I told you, you could try it, not that you should do it.
