I hope we sign him and he goes 12/12 and doesn't miss a game

It's pretty hilarious how mad you get over this. I shudder to think what you will do to yourself if he ends up signing.

Who's mad? Logic and anger are not synonymous

Why would I be mad if he contributes? If that happened, I'd be thrilled. When was the last time he scored 12 points OR grabbed 12 boards, though?

So it's not logical to give him a small deal with the hope that he may live up to some of his vast potential?

Never

I'm not huge on this either, but if its a really cheap one year contract why the frick not?

The worst he would do would if his knees explode again would be denying Lance Thomas a spot on the end of the bench.

I'm pretty sure we could live with that

No more than $3M with only 1 guaranteed season.

We're expected to offer him a deal worth $3 million in the first year. I'm sure anything more than that will include a team option for the next season.

The last game he played before his injury.

13 points and 20 rebounds.

That's what his agent is saying. $3M is way too much for a guy with no offers.

3 other teams are planning on offering similar numbers... Not a shortage of interest around the league thats for sure, offers are going to pouring in soon.

Exactly. Do some research Jester. SA and Miami both want him and will probably offer him around the same amount.

If he doesn't work out then we have a $3 million dollar expiring contract we can send somewhere at the deadline.

1. You don't know that for a fact.
2. He has meetings planned all this week, per reports. Not every offer is made public. Dallas has likely already made him one.

Have either of those teams made an actual offer? Nope, just an agent spreading news of offers to build a market.

You don't know for a fact that we even want to meet with him

yeah that will be easy. Just dump a failed experiment on some other team. That easy

You do realize EXPIRING contracts are very valuable.

Not really. We couldn't give away Kaman and he is actually capable of playing.

So one scenario makes the rule? With the increased tax burdens in the new CBA, expiring contracts at the deadline are going to be more valuable to teams looking so shed salary.
