Can't remember who it was but someone picked Lewis Neal to the surprise of the 2013 class. It wasn't me, but I do remember he had weightlighting numbers off the charts for a HS football player. James Smith I believe said "Wow" when he saw Neal's body at the camp today. The word "beast" is overused here, but pound for pound in toughness and strength, I will take Lewis Neal on a bet and give you "the field".

He's an absolute stud no doubt. He looks absolutely phenomenal. He's going to be a great player and play very early.

Yeah, as I remember he was a high 3* by Rivals but somewhere I saw his bench press and squat numbers and gggggeeeeezzz. You know how you worry about losing guys to baseball and basketball, etc. I was almost afraid the US Olympic weightlifting team might snatch him up. I remember an interview with him and he was IN THE GYM working out. That does NOT guarantee he will be a great football player but I surely don't think with any technique at all, anyone is going to be pushing him around.

I know was one of a few pumping him up as he dominated every camp he attended and still got no rivals love...

honestly, most everyone here knew he was special. Only problem with the guy is height.

He'll be interesting, as he will have the advantage of Leverage, at his height, but also with reach(6'8 wingspan). Can't wait to see that combo on the field....

You did say "here" so you are probably right but certainly the offers and the services didn't see that way. Only really good offers were LSU, Ohio State, Clemson, and S Carolina (Tennessee seems to offer everybody). And he was rated 3* on Rivals, 3* on Scouts, low 4* on ESPN.

I think you hit on the real problem with Neal as far as offers go...his height. And remember this year, LSU wouldn't offer Rhaheed until they measured his height.

Probably so, I was talking about the colleges who offer (not that many of the big boys did) and the services who didn't have him highly rated.

The stats he was putting up in high school were incredible, so that leads me to believe he knows what he's doing on the field.

I said that about Lewis. he is not only big and strong, even though he is a tad short, his arms are the length of a 6'4 guy! his hands are violent and he epitomizes what we should look for in a recruit. he loves LSU and wants to be here!!!

Quite a few ppl were high on him. He routinely whipped 4 star OL at multiple camps during his recruitment but rivals couldn't over his height and kept him a 3 star.

Had opportunity to work with him through USA Football's National Team Developmental Camps. Always had the highest praise for CLM and the university. Kid is very grounded and has all the making to be a special player. Reminded me a lot of Jacob Hester in his work ethic and character.

"What's crazy is my wingspan is 84-inches, my arm length is 38-inches and my hand length is 10-inches. I got that measured last weekend, as a matter of fact. I just wanted to throw that in there because I was surprised myself."

That wingspan will make up a lot, not worried about height, when kid has a wingspan of 7 ft. Leverage, and wingspan....kid has it. Can't wait.....

Most were baffled on here when he didn't get a 4th star. He dominated every where he went.

I don't want to derail the thread any, but does anyone know how Mickey Johnson has done since he entered the program? I remember him having insane weightlifting ability as well. Was he shifted to OL?
