Per John Reid: LINK
This seemingly confirms the earlier report from Joe and Mike at BSS.
Do y'all think Lance will make the roster?

waived and signed for minimum deal?

I sure hope so! I feel like we just needed better rim protection, rebounding, and scoring when AR was off the floor.
Jeff Withey should provide 2 of those whole Pierre Jackson could fill some reserve scoring/offensive creation duties.
I know it's summer league but I am excited.

That's what my guy is telling me. They had to wait till after the jrue trade etc were official along with the waiver period before they can sign him right? Maybe he has to play well to earn that spot? I like that kid a lot. Hope he does as well as last summer league!

Sounds plausible. He has been fluctuating between the d league and the team for a few years. Bench warmer favorite I guess

Crazy to think that he made a few starts last year. I wonder if he could have more value on our team now? More talent around him to eat utilize his high energy play.

LT personally served McDonald's fries after he Austin'd a free throw that would have sent David Wesley into orgasms last year.
He's ok in my book. Good luck to him.

His deal was going to be guaranteed.
So, waive him, pick him back up and push that guarantee date out if you can't pick up something better.

Seems genius. Low risk. Best of luck to him.
I think he will have an impact on our summer league squad at least.

Smiht
Evans

This is what I figured would happen when he got cut. No way we keep 7 guards on the roster (although 2 can play some SF) and cut Lance Thomas. He's too good of a practice player and locker room guy.
I think Brian Roberts is the most likely guy to go now. There are rumors that the Pelicans and Bucks are after some Greek SF Houston has the rights too. If the Pelicans got him Roberts seems like the most likely guy traded. Not only is he expendable with Rivers and Jackson, but he can be cut for just $50k either today or tomorrow, not to mention he's a decent 4th or 5th guard.

The $50k deal is good for a bit longer, i thought. Saturday or so. After that, fully guaranteed.

And let's be clear on a point here.
While the team has the option to keep him at one price or cut him for another, it's not a real team option. It's not an option year in the contract. He is clearly in the 2013-2014 year of the contract since he's going to be paid by the Pelicans this season, thus, will count against the cap.
It's weird that they put that little step in there before the end of the moratorium and a little after.

I don't know the reason. At this point I'm inclined to chalk it up to "Dell Doin Work." Seems legit.

That time frame seems to coincide with Summer League. My guess is he either had a similar cut window last season that they mirrored or they assumed he might have to prove himself in SL this year to make the team.

So why give him $50k? To be nice? It's possible. Maybe his camp are better negotiators than Thomas'.
ETA: I never really considered his age. Maybe it's just some incentive to go out there with the kids. That's actually believable.

This FO has demonstrated being nice to the lesser talent on other occasions, but my guess is Roberts had Europe to leverage in negotiations while Lance didn't.
