I have been looking at the Mexican IMEMSA Panga hulls, which can be purchased through a dealer in Corpus Christi. The hulls under 30 feet come completely open, without floors, wiring or anything. I've been considering buying a 25 footer, glassing in a deck and outfitting the hull for fishing. Anyone here have any experience with the IMEMSA pangas?

There is a 22' Tortuga on The Hull Truth.
It looked nice.

That's a real panga. I like the $50k versions with LEDs underwater and jackplates and all sorts of shite too expensive for me to own.

I got a quote of only $8k for a 25 foot hull, FOB Corpus. It would take about 300 in gas to go get it and maybe $2500 for a trailer if I wanted to get a new trailer. The 25 footer will run offshore with anything at or over 65 hp. My guess is that I could have it decked, wired, rigged and floating for under $16k. And if you operate it like a drug dealer or Somali pirate you can take it across the Gulf and back with up to 2,000 pounds of cargo.

Yep. 90 horse tiller handle and you could be in the pirate business.

That's a fancy panga. I'm thinking a long glassed-in floor, a tiller ETEC 65 commercial, a canvass bimini and a couple of bean bag chairs.

We took one from Xcalak, Mexico to San Pedro, Belize and back running the coast and in the mangroves. It had a tiller handle, either a 70 or 90 hp and the guy driving stood the entire time running the boat. I was impressed with the boat and the stamina of the driver...

Might be cheaper to hot shot it over

why go with a tiller though, a small center console would be mo better. Kinda like the ones that come on the small express boats

IMEMSA is Yamaha's Mexico division. The boats are made by Yamaha. you can check out the Mexico Yamaha site here, IMEMSA. If you let Google translate it for you, you can look at all the hulls. This is a legit boat hull.
