Anyone have any input on what the best BBQ Grill is in the $500-$1000 range or does anyone have one that has lasted a while with very little issues? I want one that can do charcoal and be a smoker as well.

I have had my Primo XL for 3 years and it still looks brand new. I probably cook on it twice a week. One of the best purchases I have ever made.

For smoking, get an Orion Cooker.

If your range is $500-$1000, you don't have to save a little more for a kamado. If you can go to $1,200ish, you'll never regret a Primo Oval XL. Dual zone for direct/indirect to cook whole meals at once, way more space than other kamados and the only one with the superior oval shape. You can do everything from smoke cheese at 150 degrees to getting it up to 950 for searing the shite out of steaks and everything in between.

We have an Orion and an egg. They are both excellent. I love a brisket or a shoulder on the Orion. Everything else goes on the egg. Will prob never own anything else.

get a kamado style. everyone on here will tell you why the kamado they have is the best but you really cant go wrong with any of the ones in the $1000 range. I've got an Egg and use it probably 5 times a week.

You absolutely can't go wrong with a kamado style cooker.

I have a kamado joe and use it several times a week.

I agree that in the regular sized ones, the Grill Dome is clearly the best.

I see lots of people saying they grill 3-5 times a week. That's seems like a pain dealing with charcoal that much. I just use a gas grill and electric smoker. Might be blasphemy, but its easy prep and cleanup for someone working 60-70 hrs a wk some weeks

i dont know why people act like lighting a charcoal grill is such a big event. pour lump in, light firestarter thingy, wait 15 min.

Yep, I can have my KJ ready to cook in 10-15 minutes.

I can just relight the same charcoal at least twice in my KJ so I don't even have to load charcoal for every cook.
