with Matt Damon and Jodie Foster.
What's the buzz on this movie?

it's a Blomkamp film so it should be decent at worst. i have high hopes for it

I liked District 9 so I am excited about it too.

I suspect it might be a class warfare propaganda film but I too have high hopes for it as well.

This, which is why I will never watch it. Plus, it has the new main Hollywood far left-wing liberal, Matt Damon. His movies seem to always have some liberal agenda, so I am boycotting paying to see any of his movies.

Like your boycott will make a modicum of difference (other than making you feel good about yourself, I guess).
I'm a card-carrying conservative and I don't give a frick what Damon or anyone else's political views are. I go to see him act, that's it.

This movie was getting a lot of hype on here awhile back and I saw the trailer for it when I went to see world war z and didn't think it was anything special. Will still probably see it though

When I saw WWZ I was pretty impressed by the trailer. Yeah, I'm skeptical about the underlying agenda, but it looks like it could be very good.

If you start boycott movies with liberals, then you better get used to watching some shitty movies. I am sure Kirk Cameron has a new masterpiece coming out soon.
Who cares about an actor's political beliefs? Is the movie good or not? That is all I care about.

shite like that doesnt stop me from enjoying the hell out of a Tom Cruise movie.
if it bothers you that much, buy a ticket for an independent movie and walk into Elysium

Blomkamp is a South African. Social class divisions are a huge issue in that country. I wouldn't say the theme of Elysium is part of some liberal agenda, more like Blomkamp's reflections of what he has seen and grew up around. You can probably expect a lot of that in his films. District 9 is very much about the same thing - social class divisions.
Another Blomkamp and Copley film is why I can't wait for this one.

It's one thing if an actor has a political belief, but leaves that aside when they work on a film. However, it's completely different when they try to hammer home that belief through their roles.

Just to play devil's advocate...so what? We all know Hollywood is full of pinko commie bedwetting douches. Movies are entertainment. This is America after all, they're entitled to their opinions and how they manipulate their forum. As long as you are smart enough to realize it, there's no problem.
Like someone else said, if you care that much, buy a Denzel Washington movie ticket and go see Elysium instead.

Well if they don't believe exactly what I believe I won't give them a dime
Looks interesting to me, certainly different

I understand that Hollywood is full of liberals. I can ignore the personal viewpoints of most of them, even Susan Surandon, Sean Pean, and Tim Robbins if I have to. But Matt Damon just really rubs me the wrong way and seems to select his roles based on his liberal agenda more so than anyone else.
The only other actor I boycott is Hanoi Jane.
