Ouachita Lake, AR trip, need fishing ideas.

Going to be up there for a couple days in August, not bringing the boat, and probably only 1-2 travel combos with minimal tackle. I want to catch my first smallie. That being said, what the hell do I throw? I have some of my go-to stuff for largemouth, but I have really never given much thought on what to change to target smallies. Thoughts, ideas, comments?

Oddly enough, the only smallie I ever saw in Ouachita was while snorkeling in a cove.

crank baits, crawfish imitation soft-plastics (ultra vibe speed craw, beavers, etc...), football jigs, senkos, and umbrella rigs
Top water wise, spooks and yellow magic

Only going to be bank fishing so I am pretty limited as far as targeting points, structure etc, figure I will catch more largemouth but a guy can hope. Maybe by the last day there, if I get desperate I will go rent a and see what all the fuss is about.

Are you certified to dive? If so, get some gear and spearfish. It's badass.

Yea I have my cert, haven't been since 03 though, have to brush up on my dive tables. They have a few rental places to get everything?
