Headed down to the island yesterday morning. We put in at Bridgeside at 5:00am and they were out of shrimp. With the wind being calm we decided to fish out in the surf first on artificial. The seas were nearly flat making it an easy ride to the Eastern side of the island. We picked out a rockpile and anchored up. We started out with DOA's under a cork and topwaters. The fish were coming in the boat on nearly every cast but the keeper to throwback ratio was probably 1:8. We fished the rocks for a few hrs until the bite slowed and headed over to Sand Dollar got some live shrimp and started fishing the backside of the island. The fish were much bigger and the water was cleaner. We ended up with 60+ trout a redfish.
I'd also like to give this guy a little recogniton, he actually anchored in the exact spot we were casting to not once, but twice! Two different locations! We were actually casting past his boat to catch fish. I just wish the lens on my camera wasnt wet so i could have got a nice picture of them.
Who else was down there?

Launched out of Bobby Lynn's in Leeville yesterday. Caught about 20 specks, I lost count of how many we threw back that were 11"-11 3/4".

Anyone else think its been a banner year for small trout. I know early there were plenty of bigguns. Just seems to be an above avg amt of schoolies this year.

Hasn't been any worse than recent years that I can recall. Just have to fish smart, which I hope we will do a better job of when the wind dies.

The size of the trout were the same last year. You just have to move around until you find bigger schools. Its hard to leave em biting every casy even if you only keep 1 outta 10.

BP did it.
Troof, my Aunt's, neighbor's, cousin is good friends with the secondary supplier of the dispersant and he said it would stunt 95% of the fish at 11 3/4" and make them sterile...

Fished birdreef yesterday and caught 86 keepers and probably 150 all together. Ran north and caught 8 nice reds. Holed up in the camp today, hoping weather is better tomorrow.
