247 has tagged that Clifton Garrett ran a 4.79 at the Nike Sparq test...

Saw Speedy Noil be proud of his run because he said he ran a good time for the timing system they used...... so seems to take some ticks off of people's 40... but must be more accurate...

ANYWAY.. Anybody care to search and find the 40s for the LSU recruits..??? or all grades - times?

Just asking

No one implied such... I am one who only takes so much stock in it..

To me, it only tells you what kind of athletes they are....

There is speed, then there is football speed....

230 lb linebacker running a legit 4.8, is by no means a slouch....

4.8 laser for a ILB in high school is more than good enough. Kevin Minter ran a 4.8 hand timed at the combine and got taken in 2nd round.

Also, to the poster who mentioned Ali Highsmith, he actually ran a 4.96 at the combine. He was being mocked in the first 3 rounds and went undrafted after that time. His dumbass should have only run at pro day...

Tony Brown seemed to overcome the timing issue. And 4.79 is plenty fast.

That's a good and realistic time for a 230 pound LB in HS.

Not concerned with that time. I'm only concerned with how fast he runs to the ball.

Just for how meaningless the 40 is, Dupre ran a 4.58 and afterwards everu article continued to clsim he's a 4.4 guy. If no one else cares then why should we? He also got run step for step by John Bonney who ran a 4.6+ so they continue to vastlu overrate the 40.

Also I seriously question the validity of the electronic times at the opening. Trey Marshall rana 4.54 early in the day and then a 4.34 at night making his the fastest of the event. I understand kids have bad runs but that kid didn't knock .2 off in a matter of a couple of hours. No way

Agreed 4.79 laser time is a great time for a high school ILB

LB with a sub 4.6 is still an average LB if he blows assignments or shoots the wrong gaps. CG has great instincts and from what I've seen on film has no problem running sideline to sideline

I love how people pull shite out of their arse. Ali ran a 4.96 not a 4.6.
