oh absolutely, i was just saying a large ensemble with a lot of talent, behind and in front of the camera.
I agree. The 60s get a bad rap, sometimes, when it comes to television, but there was a good bit of entertaining stuff then, including our beloved Star Trek.

TCM was probably one of the episodes that bored me the most.

I hadn't seen this in a long time. I like this episode, I like that they take time to build the tension. This is another theme that gets replayed in TNG. It is interesting how much of the future tech they sort of get right. Every time i saw the ear piece thing, I thought, blue tooth.

This is not a very good episode. The story is flat and the resolution is unsatisfying. Bailey constantly freezes up for no good reason. His subplot is uninteresting and he looks like the special-ed son of the Professor on Gilligan's Island.
This episode is only notable for finally giving us the real Spock. The first Spock moment even comes in the teaser: "Quite unnecessary to raise your voice, Mr Bailey".

I too kept thinking The Professor! But I do like the ep.

*MUDD'S WOMEN*
What a fun episode. A little bit of psychobabble in the plot, but way ahead of their time on performance enhancing drugs, human trafficking and the power of positive thinking.
One of the best turns by any guest star in Trek history - Roger Carmel as Harcourt Fenton Mudd. With the exception of members of the crew, Carmel is the only actor to play the same character in TOS twice.
I love how delighted Spock is to present the guests to Kirk.

It would be been cool if they had brought him back in one of the movies

He was going to be in TNG before he passed away.

Hell, I heard rumors there were preliminary discussions about a spinoff series surrounding Mudd. Obviously, it never came to fruition, if the rumors are even true. We know that a pilot for another show aired as the TOS episode, "Assignment: Earth", which never went into production. So, the rumor is somewhat plausible.

he died? What's he doing dying? He didn't ask my permission to do that. There were too many uses for him.

He was already living pretty hard in the 60s - he was only in his mid 30s playing Mudd, but appeared to be in early middle age.
He was a pretty hardcore drug user in the 60s, probably led to his relatively early demise at 54.

He looked 50.
Great episode. First one I will say that is comedic in nature and they weren't afraid to use sex on the show.
You would never see TNG having an episode like that. Too damn PC and feminine.
Question. The exterior shots of the enterprise look better than they used to. I take it those are CGI?

Sadly i think the view here is what a lot of people think PED's are, a magic pill people just take that transforms them.
This has always been a classic episode, still fleshing out the main characters. Did Mudd make reference to Spock's race?

in the beginning. Told the girls not to waste their time on them, said he was immune.

And Mudd used the archaic "Vulcanian" term.

as a Mustachioed-American who has sex with plastic women, I can really identify with this episode.

This is another early episode written in the Wagon Train guest star format, with Kirk peripheral to most of the action.
A variant on the western warhorse "mail order bride" story, I don't particulary care for it, aside from Carmel's flamboyant performance. Too bad he and Shatner never had a scenery-chewing death match.

Try to be neat fellas. This is someone's home planet, not a pigsty.

First thing I noticed. Gotta be enhancement. They did a good job.
