I know Ive read where some of you expressed interest in visiting one of the new Mobile, AL Publix stores. The new one at Airport/University is the best grocery store Mobile has ever had, even better than the Super Delchamps that was on Airport in the 90s. But anywho, Publix will be building a 67,000 sq ft store at Tillmans Corner and I-10 and have it opening late spring 2014... just thought Id give yall an update, and Costco summer 2014 at I-10/I-65 next to Hank Aaron stadium.

is it where the super brunos used to be?

Mobile > BR IMO

And Publix is supposedly going to be making its way into the Miss Gulf Coast and Northshore over the next 5 years.

The Rouses in Slidell off Gause and near I-10 is one of the better grocery stores I've ever been in. Certainly better than any Publix I've been in. That said, the HEB off Mason Rd in Katy is very good.

If I were still in LA, I'd wish for a HEB before a Publix. JMHO.

If you don't have an HEB you're missing out.

Do we need 4 more grocery stores in the next calendar year? Whole Foods, Publix, Costco, and the new Wal-Mart in front of Providence. The grocery store bubble is going to burst.

I lived in Florida for almost 11 years. I love Publix.

They put the grocery stores here, in Lake Charles, to shame.

They have awesome deli food and the prices are reasonable. The stores are always clean and welcoming.

I wish we'd get one here. Publix is great!

Now that you me mention it, lake Charles really does have bad grocery stores. A place like rouses or publix would make a killing down Nelson road

Winn Dixie and Delchamps found out for a fact over a decade ago, Delchamps went under and WD closed a ton of thier stores across the south.

I guess it depends on where you live and what you have. Publix is awesome to me because of how well run they are and how friendly the staff is.

The better Rouses stores are way above Winn Dixie, Albertson's, Walmart, etc.

I was in that Publix just yesterday after work as it's about a mile from my house. They were giving away certain free items if you visited with each section manager and had them sign the sign in sheet they gave you as you came in. Lots of store promotions for this store's openings. The other Mobile location is also within a couple of miles of me (Hillcrest and Cottage Hill) but hasn't done the same promotions. I agree though, the new one on University and Airport is one of the nicest grocery stores I've ever been in. The Publix in Orange Beach by comparison seems to be one of their run of the mill stores. It's nice and has the standard good service but doesn't seem like anything special.

I could never figure out how a brand new "super" Publix AND the upcoming Whole Foods Market were going up along that stretch of Airport Boulevard until it dawned on me that pretty much everyone in the Spring Hill area has to come down to Airport for retail as it's practically nothing but neighborhoods with almost no retail in the area bordered by Airport Blvd/University Blvd/Spring Hill/Dauphin/and I-65 on the east

Jitney Jungle...lol..what a dumbass of a merger that was with Delchamps! Hell, Rite Aid survived by the skin of their teeth when they bought out Eckerds, and the dumbass young CEO then had over 1,000 stores built, then they had to close a butt load of em. Im shocked they didnt go under!
