Guitarists of the MB, lay some advice on me

What should be the first 5 or so scales that a guitarist should learn at first?(also, what Key) TIA
any other tips to someone who is a noob at improvising would be appreciated.

Key of G or E, start with the minor pentatonic scale.

I've taught myself random ones like C lydian, and other random scales, but I've decided I need some guidance and direction on what to learn. I like to play blues/rock.

Go to local jam nights and get shown up a bunch. Then just keep practicing and studying theory. Pretty soon you'll be better than 90% of pop musicians

If you have not already done so, start practicing your bar chords..You'll hate it to start but be light years ahead of idiots like me that started on all open chords.

get a little book that has a bunch of scales.

All major scales are the same pattern of notes just at different places on the fret board. So if you know E major, F major will be one fret up.

Learn based on relative position, not key.
Learn the scales you want in the key of A, using 5th fret as the home note. Listen to the notes, don't just hit them fast. After your ears are used to the intervals, you can move that scale shape up and down the neck to any key you want.
ETA: Also, if you learn the full minor scale the way I just described, the only thing that changes is the root note from scale to scale. For example, A minor and C Major contain the same notes, then theory can help you figure out why they sound different when played.
