My thinking is we were hell bent on getting a top class striker. After getting Soldado early on, maybe the Ozil transfer would have just been too much. 
Also with CL teams fighting for him, I don't know that he would have been that interested in Spurs.
All that being said, I wish we would have taken a stab at him!

I have noticed that after watching him closely now. We haven't really had an over whelming game where we threaten the goal (other than our joke Europa tie against Tsibili (sp?) that we won 8-0) I think we have the talent though, and as our mid-field gels he will start having better games.
