1st Unit
Holiday
Gordon
FA (?)
Davis
Lopez

2nd Unit
Vasquez
Rivers
Miller
Anderson
Smiht

How much space do we have for free agents now after the draft day trade?

The rotations do not look bad for a young team.

About $4-5m in straight cap space if we renounce all FAs and pick up all options.

We've got more room than that for trades / sign-and-trade if we move some of our guys, like Vasquez, Lance Thomas, the #42 pick, etc.

$4m is probably enough to get us a guy like Martell Webster or Dorrell Wright, who are both FAs.

I doubt Wright goes back to the Sixers since they're in blatant tank mode while Webster may think twice about resigning with the Wizards since they just grabbed Porter at #3.

Normally I'd put those 2 as the odds on favorites except Demps GMs like a ninja so I have no idea who we'll get. I wouldn't be totally shocked if he found a way to S&T Iggy.

Maybe the "ninja" move is grabbing Chris Copeland as a backup while we sign one of those two as the starter.

All we need is Iggy to want to come here. He can go to his GM, who was Demps' assistant just last week, and say "I'm either signing with Atlanta and you get no return, or you send me to New Orleans and you can get whatever you can flip Vasquez and Smith for." Unless Indiana frees up cap space by dumping Granger, which probably would have happened last night if it was going to happen, I don't see any cap space teams that are significantly more desirable than New Orleans. Houston is probably the only one but their cap space is going after Dwight.

We need to sign a good 3 and we could upgrad the 5 still. And we don't have a ton of cap space, so I could see some guys like Vasquez or Lopez or somebody being gone eventually.

That's a great 2nd unit IMO.

FA (?)

So odds on favorites to replace FA at the 3 is Igudala, Webster, Wright or Copeland. Is that right?

Demps does have one predictable facet to making moves, he and Monty like going with the familiar. No way he chooses Webster over Iggy if Iggy's an option, but espeically with Porter being drafted by the Wizards I'd put Webster as the odds on favorite of the also rans because of his relationship with Monty. He is also the level of FA that would tell Monty "Don't forget about me coach".

Same here. I wouldn't be surprised if they already have a few deals on the table. If we had drafted Burke or CJM, then I'd say Vasquez at least sticks around to the trade deadline. But trading for an All Star PG, drafting one in the 2nd, having Austin Rivers still, and Roberts who wasn't THAT bad last year pretty much seals Vasquez's fate.

A line up of

Holiday
Gordon
Igoudala
Davis
Lopez

Would make this a pretty damn good team. Throw in Anderson as the 6th, and with no serious injuries, we get in the playoffs easily, 6-8 seed

Depends on how the West shakes out this year, thanks to total upheaval of a few rosters and front offices.

The Lake Show will regress. There's no telling how new coaches in Denver and Memphis will change things. There's no telling who will still be on Houston's roster come the start of the season. Etc.

We should definitely be in contention, but watching Houston barely sneak in with a top 5 player last year, and some good players around him, it shows how tough the West is.

The West is brutal, I will not deny that.

OKC - should be top 1-2 team in the west
LAC - adding Doc Rivers makes them even better
MEM - Lost their coach, so we'll see
HOU - especially if they get Howard
SA - depends on who stays, possible retirements, etc.
DAL - would hop into the mix with Howard
LAL - See them taking a step back
DEN - could see them taking a step back with Karl gone, but still competitive and solid all around team
GS - will continue to develop into a good team
UTAH - will be fighting for a playoff spot
MIN - depends on health, but if healthy will fight for a 7-8 spot
PORT - should also be a middle of the pack, fighting for playoffs team.

It sucks that the West is so stacked. I see us, if healthy, competing for 6-8 seed. It's ridiculous that damn near the entire conference, outside of 2 teams, have realistic playoff chances. If a solid 3 is added, I honestly like our chances of getting in.

That's why I think it's a good 2nd unit.

I do think Vasquez is gone though. Just not sure what we could get back.

Danny Granger?
Wilson Chandler?
Evan Turner?
Spencer Hawes?
Gerald Green?

We added some offense last night, that might not be the complete truth then. Anderson can sorta play this role as well.
