Would Bill Simmons be good as a GM?

I think there also needs to be a few scenarios.

1) GM of the Celtics- well for obvious reasons
2) GM lf a team in a complete rebuild- basically taking over a team from scratch
3) GM of a team that is a borderline playoff team

What is the MSB's opinion how this guy would do in these three different situations?

My personal opinion, I think the guy is not that good. I think he has created this myth that the only 3 things that matter are PER, obscure %, and cost-to-production, in regards to an NBA player not a Celtic.
I think he is way overrated and brings personal opinions into what he talks about way too much, and could never be objective enough, or have the insight needed to be an NBA GM. Guy that can relay numbers off a page, and pair that up with comical (bad attempts) social, pop-culture, and political jokes.

In the objective sense, probably not. It's a hard job.

But the NBA is "blessed" with some real crappy GMs so it's equally hard for me to believe that he would be the worst.

And all you have to do is either draft or bring the next LeBron (or the current one) over as a free agent and the sky is the limit even for a piker.

He would make a horrible GM yet Billy King is still around so he could be better than that

I'll say this about Bill:
1) he preferred Durant over Oden
2) he called CP3 being the best player of the draft in which he went 4th

As long as he brought Zach Lowe along for the ride, I don't see why he couldn't do the job at least somewhat competently.

Former NY Giants GM Ernie Accorsi started out as a sports reporter.

You guys would still have 3 of the best 10 players alive if he was your GM, so there's that.

No shite. He bitched about the Harden trade from the jump.

He called Oden being a huge risk.

He said Durant was the play.

Of course Simmons is a Boston homer, but he follows the NBA. Give him a cap guy, and he could put a team together IMO.
