IRS Applications of Progressive Groups Could be Approved on the Spot by Agents

quote:

A November 2010 version of the list obtained by National Review Online, however, suggests that while the list did contain the word “progressive,” screeners were in fact instructed to treat “progressive” groups differently from “tea party” groups. Whereas screeners were merely alerted that a designation of 501(c)(3) status “may not be appropriate” for applications containing the word ”progressive” – 501(c)(3) groups are prohibited from conducting any political activities – they were told to send those of tea-party groups off ”to Group 7822? for further scrutiny.

That means the applications of progressive groups could be approved on the spot by line agents, while those of tea-party groups could not. Furthermore, the November 2010 list noted that tea-party cases were “currently being coordinated with EOT,” which stands for Exempt Organizations Technical, a group of tax lawyers in Washington, D.C. Those of progressive groups were not.

The AP reported earlier on Monday that “Terms including ‘Israel,’ ’Progressive’ and ‘Occupy’ were used by agency workers to help pick groups for closer examination.” That appears to be misleading, as there is no indication from the list examined by NRO that progressive groups were singled out for heightened scrutiny in a manner similar to tea-party groups. Cases involving healthcare legislation, however, were. “New applications are subject to secondary screening in Group 7821,” the list notes.

You might have combined this with that other thread.

Ironic. I have 'a want.' A wanting of full transparency of when the progressives will stop cow tailing and apologizing for a radical slimy politician named Obama. And I pray they realize that if they APPROVE THIS, it will happen to them someday. The entire issue is abhorrent.

This is not a right/left issue...this is a freedom issue. The progressives have really shown their true colors in defending these actions.

I thought about combining but then decided that the other side of the story deserved it's own headline. Most especially since the MSM won't headline this part of the story. Somebody has to... Don't you agree?

Good thing only political junkies give two craps about this. But then again the other AP article will appease the average dolt. Don't you agree?

That story came out before the one this morning. We don't know a lot of information at this point.

In other words, Media Matters has not had time to develop my talking points yet. I will have an opinion once I am informed what the party line opinion is.

Sincerely, a want

Every time I think you are going to be rational and seriously consider the facts you say something or ignore something that makes me realize you are in too deep with big government and your political positions.

This really isn't a very good explanation. The term “progressive” appeared appears to refer to applications for 501(c)(3) status, not the 501(c)(4) status sought by Tea Party groups.

So there wasn't a bolo for progressive groups seeking 501(c)(4) status, only 501(c)(3) status. And it looks to have come from different people.

Re-read every one of my posts this morning.

You're projecting. You're also revealing a lot about your political compass. I have said nothing objecting to or advocating any particular political position.

I'm not projecting. You are in denial. As I stated, you ignore facts to promote your own political position (irrational).

The new head of the IRS also said that the IRS did nothing wrong. You agree with this as well?

quote:

I have said nothing objecting to or advocating any particular political position.

When you ignore specific aspects of things to imply one thing instead of looking at it with some degree of critical thinking then you reveal yourself.

"We have not found evidence of intentional wrongdoing by anyone in the IRS or involvement in these matters by anyone outside the IRS," he told reporters.

"The top five people in the agency responsible for the tax-exempt status of organizations have already been removed, including the former acting commissioner"

So notwithstanding the "8000 threads on how Obama was the mastermind" on the IRS targeting tea party members or conservative groups now you are genuinely interested that the IRS has been corrupt in some way?

You are such a hack!

What is truly sad is the media covering for Obama in trying to spin this AKA a wants thread.
