What depths do yall usually catch them in and do you usually throw sabikis or something different? I was having a hard time catching them at the end of last summer.

Pogies. About 5 or so pulls of line.

We've been catching ours pretty easy tossing storm swim baits into the large schools of them. Also caught a couple on bare hooks.

I assume you want them for bait?

On the rigs just south of Dauphin Island I would use a sabiki rig with 3/4 - 1 ounce pyramid weight. I'd just drop it till the hit and then leave it there long enough to hook two or three more. It was usually around 20-25 ft

How far out are you?

They are harder to catch in the surface schools in clear water. Sabiki rig, typically up current side of rig. Use your sonar to find them, they will hold tight to legs. When you hang one, leave it down till you feel more hit rig. Disregard everything above.

Depends on the size. If you want big ones for grouper and amberjack.
The old school double redfish/speck rigs work the best. For the small ones.
Sabiki in nearly any depth.

They are all over my platform daily. I catch with scraps form the slop bucket.(500ft)
