So I was watching Jenkinson yesterday and he played fairly well, but what I noticed is that he often slowed our play down, and struggled with the ball at his feet. He probably isn't the long-term answer at RB, but he could be moved to CB easily, as he has the size, speed, and agility to be a high-quality CB. That said, he probably is the best pure athlete on the team as he is both fast and can run for days. I just don't think he has Sagna's or even Eboue's level of technical skill.

yeah, that's been my problem with him throughout. he's not skilled enough. sagna can exchange passes with our attacking players and be involved in attacking exchanges much more fluidly. Jenks can only play simple passes or lower his head and sprint. he's solid defensively now. he shouldn't be a starter for us, but he's a useful squad player.

still was fun to see him score a goal as a lifelong arsenal fan.

it will be interesting to see who we get to replace Sagna. he's not the best in attack, but his combination in being effective in attack and awesome in defense over the course of his arsenal career was unmatched by other RBs in the league over that time period. aurier is more attacking from what i've read, and has also played well at CB apparently, so it'd be interesting to see how that would influence our offensive game.

unsurprisingly, the brazilians at shaktar donetsk want out. we were linked to Bernard heavily (though that seemed to be a plant with the agent). wouldn't mind him as one for the future. or douglas costa, as one for now. luiz adriano would be available too, though i'd imagine he'd be pretty far down any striker wish list we have. probably not even worth it.

I really think Jenks future is at CB. With him you could get away with playing a rather high line. He can pass the ball from the back well enough, or at least, he can't be any worse than Mertesacker.

I don't know who we've been linked with this summer, but it seems awfully quiet with regard to other summers.

We have not done great in WC summers under Wenger. The only real successes we've had in terms of signings in the last 3 WC summers are Gilberto Silva, Song, and Koscielny.

I wouldn't even consider Song a success. He was at Arsenal for a year before the WC. I don't know how Wenger can justify not spending money this summer. We need a bigger squad.

yeah, the rumors have dried up. probably because our main recent links have committed themselves to their clubs (suarez, drax, bender, etc). the aurier smoke has been fairly heavy lately. that's it. i don't think AW is lying when he says we're going to wait until after the WC to do deals.

btw, i hate that aurier plays for the ivory coast. africa cup of nations is the worst.

Apparently Sardar Azmoun, a young Iranian striker currently at Rubin Kazan posting a photoshopped pic of himself with the Emirates in the background saying "goodbye Rubin..."

Wow...he's been playing quite well as of late but he's hasn't been called to the squad since last November. I'll be interested who makes it. I guess everything will go through Valbuena.

Yeah wasn't he the source for alot of unrest in French camp in the last World Cup? Or maybe I'm making that up.

Even at Euro 2012 he was a count. Apparently he publicly criticized Deschamps after a recent qualifier and that might be what did it. Rumors range from players asking Deschamps to exclude him to the backroom staff asking Deschamps to exclude him. Also he looks like a middle-age lesbian.

Yea the French team had a lot of internal riff-raff going on in the last 5 years or so. Maybe he's trying to weed some of that poison out of the locker room.

LINK

Here's a pretty nice Wilshere comp. That through ball to Giroud against West Brom is dank. I forget how good his control is until I watch these sorts of comps. He still fricks up a lot, but at his best he's so good. If we could find another midfielder that allowed Wilshere and Ramsey to play together that would be amazing.

r/gunners is reporting that we activated the buyback clause for Vela. I'm not sure what that means for his future, but I'm not surprised that this happened.

For only $4M euros, I'm all for it. We have to have more depth up top going into next year and whether or not he can transition his game to the EPL with more experience this time, he's more proven than Sanogo at this point.
