Sean "P Diddy" Combs is to launch a cable music channel, Revolt TV, which he claims will be the "first channel of the social media age" and fill the gap left by MTV after it stopped playing music videos seven years ago.

The US hip-hop star turned entrepreneur said Revolt TV will cover music in a journalistic way and "celebrate creative and cinematography".

Revolt TV will be multiplatform running across broadcast, online and mobile, and is expected to launch later this year. It will be a dedicated music channel, showing US and international artists, established and new acts.

Combs said he believed the new channel can replace MTV, which in the past 10 years has cut back on playing music videos as such content has become more widely watched online. LINK
Don't know about the name but a music channel focused on music would be nice.

Revolt TV, the upcoming cable network led by Sean Combs, has finalized a national carriage agreement with Time Warner Cable (TWC), it was announced today. Together with previously announced distribution, this will make Revolt one of the largest launches in cable TV history when it goes live this fall
He has deals with Comcast and Time Warner cable so far.

It'll definitely get a lot of people off of MTV's back if he doesn't.

I'll tune in.

I don't watch music videos anymore, but I'm glad someone is picking up the pissed on torch and running with it again.

People don't watch music videos anymore. Fuse TV has been up and running for a while and nobody ever watches that

Music videos seem like they'd be good for having on in the background, but I can't imagine sitting down and actively watching a bunch of music videos back to back like when I was younger. Is it because I'm older or has the novelty of videos worn off?

It doesn't have to be all music videos. I'd like to see music documentaries, live performances, interviews, etc. They could do specials on all the different festivals around the world and show some live performances from them. I just want to see music related content.
