Five National Title opportunities, five Natty's.

When you make it to Omaha, you're just gettin' started...so hard to win it all.

Skip wouldn't win 5 in today's college baseball. The game has completely changed.

Goooooooodddddddd you people are so fricking stupid!!!!....I really didnt know we had this many dumb fans. So many of you think he went 5 for 5 in CWS trips. I am praying yall are just too young to know the history of LSU baseball, but sadly, I dont think thats the case. Yall do realize other colleges are taking baseball a lot more serious now???

The point is, few coaches will get to a national title situation five times and win all five... name another who has ?

Skip Bertman's 1987 CWS team blew a 3 run lead in the 10th inning to be eliminated.

...ok

Mainieri is 1-for-1 in the same situation. How is this relevant?

Honestly there are many college coaches today that are better than skip as a coach. College baseball has improved that much since then and many more schools care about baseball now compared to then. Skip was great for lsu and a great college coach but the level of coaching in college baseball is the largest change in the game over the last 20 yrs even more so than the bats.

Certainly true in the SEC as it relates to Skip's era.... but not for Miami, USC, Fla. State, Texas, etc..... and Skip beat them all.

Regardless of the hate you've gotten in this thread, you're spot-on. CPM can't hold Skip's jock. Skip's teams were built for Omaha, not winning meaningless conference titles. CPM can't even call a damn bunt when needed.

Would have been a totally different ball game if home runs could be hit.
