Team Lack of "clutch gene" ultimately cost them

I have been saying all year that this team was very talented and very good, but at times it didn't seem they had the "it" factor like 09. They won a lot of games by getting ahead early, but they rarely responded to adversity all year. The SEC tournament eased this feeling of mine for a bit. However, it reared its ugly head again in Omaha. Bregman, Ibarra, Rhymes going hitless. Uncharacteristic erros. Not being able to hit in big spots. Jacoby not keeping momentum from supers. Anytime the team got down a couple of runs this year, they rarely responded. Maybe its because of the youth, but it still doesn't make it easier to stomach. I know I'm venting, but when so many crucial players fail to perform in key moments or BE ABLE TO RESPOND TO ADVERSITY it tells me they didn't have "it". Unfortunately that's what did us in in the end.

That is when the coaches need to step up. Pull a guy and put someone else in, etc. That didn't seem to happen here.

I don't know what more the coaches could've done other than the stupid decision to continue with Stevenson that is just unjustifiable considering Laird is just as good in center and what Foster lacks in range in RF he makes up for in arm strength and hitting ability. Sometimes players just don't respond. We have what I would say two clutch players on the team. Katz and Tyler Moore but you can't play Moore because he's not that good everyday.

We will have to wait for Derek Jeter to have a son, and then get him to play LSU baseball.

Clutch hitting to win SECT? Clutch hitting in the regional? Clutch hitting to win game 1 of super regional?

LSU was garbage in bases loaded situations all season.

They'd score runs by getting outs.. not hits.

I stated the SECT eased my feeling about this.
But in regards to the rest of your post I'm saying in Adverse situations when we had to respond or sink. Sam Houston is kind of like that, but that was a weird arse game and we were hitting the ball from the beginning in that one.

Baseball is a simple game.
You throw the ball.
You catch the ball.
You hit the ball.

Someone's going to win, someone is going to lose. Everyone doesn't get a trophy and ice cream in real life.

I wonder if there is testing for clutch genes?

Maybe its because of the youth,
Two Freshmen Pitchers combined to hold us to two runs and 13 LOB today. Youth can't be an excuse.

Agreed also considering your best players are often underclassmen
