That has nothing to do with adding a player to join the team. Per the tweet, it was worded as adding to the team, not people at the draft party.
ETA: Here is the wording-

It could be, but if Gordon is in their long term plans, than I feel like they would try to get fans on his side. Excluding him from this PR release can only isolate him from the fan base even more, which is, again, something I feel like they wouldn't want to do if they wanted to keep him around.

Selling the team would be promoting your best players.
I read it as they aren't sure if Gordon will be in future plans or not.

Best Player and Most Marketable Player usually go together but not always. Gordon's negatives are off the charts. You mention his name and more than half the fans start twitching.
Someone correct my fuzzy memory but I think 2 years ago Okafor was conspicuously absent from team promotional material and we all thought he was getting traded, but he was on the team another year after that.

Well, to be fair, the absence doesn't mean they already have a trade worked out for the player. Just because Okafor didn't get traded at that point in time, doesn't mean they weren't looking to trade him. They just may not have seen him in their long term plans (maybe like Gordon), but were not able to find a suitable trade for him at the time.
But, if I'm not mistaken, I remember them excluding Peja on side of the Arena at the start of the season he got traded. Or maybe it was Okafor? I can't remember...
