If you go on Norwegian, you won't have many sloppy people at all. In fact, you'll have quite a few classy people there. Of course, you'll still have your usuall "cruise crowd" but for the most part, you'll enjoy that cruise. Carnival is an absolute NO when it comes to cruises.
There are good cruise lines out there, you just have to be willing to find them.

Most of the newer ships have several sit down restaurants. Some you have to pay for, but they are very nice. Do a little research.

so their are sit down restaurants? I thought it was just buffet or group seating's.

nah, you can find some badass small ship cruises to Alaska that aren't even close to that expensive

maybe 10k for the week

Just saying, I have a cruise coming up in 2 weeks. South of France, Malta, Florence, Venice, etc. We will have NONE of your problems. We will have all you can drink beer and wine, the missus will have private spa and massage sessions, I will gamble, and we will see some great art and sights while bouncing around the Mediterranean. There won't be any fat trashy buffett eating rednecks.

Most cruises are not Carnival Tampa/Mobile/NOLA redneck yacht clubs.

If you go on a trashy one then you have the trashy easy sluts aboard. That might be a benefit.

Just got back from the North Sea on the Silver Cloud.

Its the greatest vacation ever.

I guess its different if youre poor. This was like a Ritz-Carlton on the water. Gourmet food all you can eat 24/7, wine, champagne, cocktails til you cant stand it anymore.

Its a magical fantasy.

I went on one when I graduated from High School with a bunch of friends and had a blast. Easy access to alchohol and weed after the stop in Freeport, no need to worry about DUI's. free buffets open 24/7, on board casino.Wouldn't want to do it now that I'm older. But it was fun at that age.

What lines are these? I would totally pay double not to be on a floating cattle car.

You get to see many different places and only unpack once

I'll never get my husband to go on a typical cruise(just not his thing at all). Might be able to tempt him with a yacht type cruise though one day.

Well the entire premise of this thread is like going to Dollar General and then saying, "why do women love shopping?"

re: What are the positives of going on a Cruise?

Recently went on a Royal Carribean 7 night (only b/c it was my sister-in-law's wedding). It is not my thing and I will probably never go on another one. Had a balcony room and it was still small. Never used the balcony. I hate being on a schedule when I go on vacation. I like to do what I want, when I want. It felt like I was in the movie groundhog day while we were sailing. You wake up and eat in the same restaurant for breakfast, go and hang out with your group at the same spot by the pool, and eat dinner in the same place every day. Some people love them but it is just not my thing.
