Rhymes has hit in 13 double plays, why didn't Mainieri bunt?

Seems like an easy decision, right?

Not hating on Raph because he was just doing what CPM told him, but with that track record, I would think a bunt would be obvious

Should have bunted him. PM was hoping he's rope one down the line.

He called for a bunt and the pitcher threw two balls so he called off the bunt. It was the right move. Rhymes swung at the fricking 2-0 pitch.

He hasn't laid a sack bunt all year. I'm not saying you're wrong by any means, just trying to guess Paul's mind at the time.

Smoke came down and talked to PM after eating a hotdog, and thought he saw something with Rymes

exactly.

Rhymes is hot ... HOT.... HOT GARBAGE in those situations. it was a given that if he swung the bat, it would be an easy double play.

I'm still upset about it, you have to bunt the ball in that situation IMO. I don't care whose at the plate.

I thought Maineri had an overall bad game of decision making. When LSU gave up the go ahead run, 1st base was open with a lefty at the plate. I know Bregman had to make that play, but Nola had a much better chance of getting out the right handed batter who he eventually struck out. The decision not to bunt is just as bad. Their closer was perfect all year. If you have a chance to get a runner in scoring position, you have to make that happen.
