Oh Well

quote:

Former Airline tight end John Thomas made a verbal commitment to the University of Texas on Saturday.

Thomas, a 6-foot-7, 255-pound tight end, spent last season at Trinity Valley (Texas) Community College where he caught seven passes for 76 yards.

Thomas verbally committed to LSU before his senior season at Airline.

Did we stop recruiting him?

This, and all signs pointing to Anthony Jones coming into the fold along with Jacory Washington. I don't think we're gonna ever be hurting for tight ends as long as Cam is here.

Even though we are stacked at TE we should have honored our offer to this kid. Les is giving North Louisiana talent away, Arkansas and UT are loving this.

Y'all are selling John Thomas short. Kid is talented and would have helped LSU tremendously out of high school.

If he had held up his end in the classroom he would be at LSU already.

And will be a gamechanger, in my opinion. No more 1 receiver patterns in this new offense.

A. Gates comes to mind when I read this. Not saying that the guys we have and are bringing in are on his level, but the way he and V. Davis have been used makes me excited about this offense.

It's his fault for not having his grades in order in the first place.

Idiots seems to find any way to bitch. Let him go be a part of that dumpster fire in Austin

Offers are good for a kid coming out of high school, that's it. Nothing to honor once he didn't qualify. And, it would be dumb to give him an offer just to keep him away from other schools when we're stacked at the position. Who the hell cares if he goes to Texas? Good pick up for them, doesn't hurt us. Way to not overreact though.

We are set at TE, not like JT had a chance to ever start at LSU. That being said, I think UT is a football program in decline. The Aggies have taken off since joining the SEC, and Texas is left holding the short end of the stick, although they want to believe they are above everyone else... Good luck to Thomas, but he should have looked elsewhere...

the guy didnt hold up his end of the bargain. didnt make grades. for all we know he has a spot and decided to go to texas. but yes, lets just keep blaming Les.

If he would have been here it would have changed a few things with our TE recruits, but sometimes things just don't work out. Good luck to him at UT.

Wasn't Thomas the kid that injured his knee his senior year?
