not the worst idea I've heard. I like the extra pick, I'd be down. if marion doesn't work we can just boot him next year.

Sadly Marion would be the best starting 3 we've had since a healthy Peja, which seems decades ago. I'd be down for this scenario.

or take the $10.7 million that it would cost to take on Marion and the #13 pick and use it to sign a better/younger SF.

Like this deal a lot. Gives us the ability to get Burke and possibly Saric. And let Saric stay in Europe for a year like he wants to. However, doesn't Marion have a player option. Would he opt out to play for a contender?

So we trade for Marion and the #13 pick, then Marion opts out for nothing. What's the downside of that? We get the #13 pick for nothing.. that'd be awesome..

Marion is old

We've discussed this scenario before.

That can't happen. The deal would happen in July when the league year starts. Marion would already have opted in at that point. Dallas would have to pick a guy we want on a handshake deal.

If Marion subsequently opted out then Dallas either keeps the pick or we have to give them something. These things have happened.

Anyway, I hate this idea as its us giving up on FA before it even begins. For a old, overpaid 3 stopgap.

Drive is this just an idea of yours or based on anything you know?
