Wife got tickets for our anniversary. Going on Saturday for Weezer, Imagine Dragons, and QOTSA. Gonna be a long day. Still trying to decide if we're taking our 9 year old.

Mmmmm, a few folks peeved about conflicts, per fB:

John Carter Please fix the Cake vs Jane's and the Tegan & Sara vs Imagine Dragons conflicts!!

Perry Ferrell Could've sworn ID was before RHCP just yesterday. Guess ill fight thru yeah yeah yeahs for good field position

Megan Morris Yes, PLEASE please please please please fix it so Jane's Addiction and Cake aren't playing at the exact same time! Even if they're staggered that would be better than having to miss the entire set of one of them! They're the whole reason I wanted to come back this year! Pleeeeeeeeease...

Clarissa Frichenbruder Please fix the conflicts, I would love to see both Jane's Addiction AND Cake!!

Berserk Binary I like journey don't get me wrong.but qotsa or weezer should closed.whats coming next year bob seger and the sliver bullet band as closers or warrant or ratt.how about Abba its not rite but ill take it.

No conflicts with the three I'm going to see. But I knew there would be issues like that with a third stage added.

Had to buy a two day for him, but our son is going with us. We'll be out there after lunch, so if anybody wants to meet up, let me know before Saturday.

Check North Miss Allstars. My plan is to be near the front, 4:15.

Someone just did their sound check.

QOTSA were fantastic. Imagine Dragons good, also.

What's the sound quality like at these things now? I always consider going to a few of these, like Jazz Fest and so forth, but I never go because of my perceived temperature issues, distance from the stage, and poor sound quality.

Yes, they were; Caught some of their show from afar.

I really enjoyed Yeah Yeah Yeahs yesterday and ZZ Ward (blues-based with a little hiphop).

The weather was perfect ..

... and so much more.

Sound quality was good.

Distance from the stage is a function of your willingness to commit to one band. That is, you may have to get their early for the opening acts, sit through them and the breaks in between, waiting for your band.

That's puts you upfront, in the middle of the energy. The other option is to drop a blanked towards the back. You can hear well, but to see the artists you need binoculars focused on the big screen (not the stage).

It's not bad to mix these two options over the course of fest setting.

Now, Music Midtown had some other terrible problems. The lines to enter could easily take an hour; totally amateurish.

The port-a-let lines were also, again this year, 30 to 40 minutes.

One could / would miss entire acts trying to enter yesterday's fest or going to the bathroom.

That said, I'm happy cuz I sampled several acts I would never have heard / seen otherwise.

Guess that confirms my suspicions. I was looking at the Voodoo Arts festival thing in New Orleans, but I think I'll pass now.
