Tried two years ago and grew a few, but really didn't make it worthwhile. It wasn't worth what we paid for the plants and the yield we got.

Never had to plant them. Damn things just grew in the pantry.

you kill the vines and leave them in the ground for 23 days so that the skin can "set up" then after you dig them out put them somewhere cool and dryfor 2-3 months so that they "cure out" meaning the starch turns to make them more sweet, if you eat them fresh they don't have a good flavor.

My uncle plants then at the deer camp near St francisville. I honestly don't know what goes into planting them because I was never there for that. But I have helped harvest them. It's miserable in my opinion. Having to dig all of them out of the dirt just isn't worth it to me. Could be because I'm lazy though.

Sandy soil and lots of Mexicans are required to grow sweet taters.

Easy to grow but you need slips. Get them from a feed store. You just plant them in really good loose soil and forget them. Easy growing. Forget killing vines and such bullshite. Sweet taters are easy as it gets baby. you can grow your own slips by putting some taters in a jar of water with the root end down with the top out of water, just use tooth picks. My grand ma used to grow them as an ivy. they will grow 8 ft tall

I grew some 2 years ago. Mine produced good but were the funkiest looking things ever. I never did grow a normal looking sweet tater
