...any ideas? At all?
What's going on with Nick Barnett? I know he's on the older side, but when he plays he's actually very productive. Smart vet; been around the game for a while. Only thing is, he played OLB in the 4-3 at Buffalo, and I think he played inside the 3-4 in Green Bay. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Desmond Bishop? Word out of GB is that he will be traded or cut if he doesn't take a pay cut.

You're losing on depth with Vic out. Still needs to be replaced. Hawthorne was a disappointment last year though I do still believe he can contribute... Wilson, Johnson, and Thomas all unproven, IMO. We lost a guy familiar with the scheme and able to make plays.

Does butler still count against the cap? If so there is no real roomto sign a "quality" backup

I wanna say No if he's IR'd. but i'm sure the answer is a bit more complicated than that.

Hawthorne played inside in Seattle I believe. I would guess it will either be Martez or Gallette.

mostly inside i think one year outside, he's a versatile Linebacker although better suited inside. He needs to be healthy though.

Didn't you ask this in the other thread? As I said:
Yes.
Yes, we have $5.5m and we could pretty easily free up more by cutting someone like Jenkins. But if we don't spend that money this year, it carries over to next year, so unless there's a guy we think will make a big difference, there's no reason to spend much.

I don't think that's an accurate assessment of the cap implications.

quote:
Only the highest 51 player salaries for a team count against the Salary Cap in the offseason while ALL player salaries of a team count in calculating the team total Salary Cap during the season. This includes a player that is on Injured Reserve (IR), Physically Unable to Perform (PUP), and the Practice Squad (PS). Practice Squad contracts are included in a team’s Salary Cap during the season except in certain situations where a practice squad player is signed to another team’s 53-man roster.

But when we add the next guy, it's entire salary doesn't necessarily count toward the cap so to speak lets say we signed a 750k player... its not 750k less of cap.
