Have you seen where Jerome has taken to calling Badstuber "Hole" It's fricking ridiculous. What a stupid arse nick name. We need our Hole in the backline again.

Matthias Sammer took questions from the media for almost 60 minutes in Riva on Wednesday lunchtime, “and now I've seen off the lot of you," the board director for sport joked. Naturally, fcbayern.de was there, and has summarised Sammer's comprehensive analysis. The 45-year-old covered topics ranging from new coach Guardiola’s ideas through to the club’s up-and-coming juniors.

Matthias Sammer on…

…Pep Guardiola and his team’s working methods:
“The tradition of this team and Bayern is now exposed to Pep’s ideas. If we don't embrace that it would be negative. At the moment, he's passing on to the team the way he wants football to be played, full of emotion and with a very clear philosophy. Everyone's getting on with each other very, very well, and there's huge mutual respect, which is praiseworthy. All credit to Pep and his coaching staff, but also to the players, who appear hungry and insatiable despite all our success."

…possible changes to Bayern's tactics:
“I'm seeing nothing more than adjustments to the detail. Our players have so much quality and versatility. We shouldn't read too much into it, and we should keep our feet on the ground. Pep has his own identity. He's meticulous in explaining his ideas. I appreciate that and I regard it as positive."

…his personal relationship with Guardiola:
“We have a wonderful interpersonal relationship. It's early days of course, but that's already something! I'm there to give him advice, each and every day. But he takes all decisions regarding the players."

…targets for the season:
“It's not the right time to be worried about that. It's a time of getting to know each other, working together and acclimatising to each other. We can turn to the details later. The season's still a long way away, but there are lots of things to win."

…assistant coach Hermann Gerland:
“Words can't express the players’ relationship with him. He sits with the players on the bus - just imagine that if you will. Hermann Gerland does an outstanding job. He's one of the best in the world in managing the transition from the youths to the seniors."

…Pep's right-hand man Manel Estiarte:
“Manel does a lot of the organisational work for Pep, so he can do what he loves, immersing himself in the football. Manel is Pep's confidant. But he's always sensitive to the situation, and his activities don’t encroach on my area of responsibility at all."

…the junior players at the training camp:
“You notice that we have very, very interesting and highly talented players. All the players who were and are here will remain in focus. They all have the quality, but they need a little dash of cheekiness, inventiveness and passion. The door to the next level is open to all of them. They just have to go through it. Pep and [FC Bayern II coach] Erik ten Hag are aiming to hold training sessions at roughly the same time and make the connection even closer. We want to take the next step in this area."

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge arrived at Bayern's training camp on Tuesday, determined not to miss the evening friendly against Brescia Calcio. The chairman was busy during the day hearing reports on the progress made in Riva so far, clearing up the final details of Mario Gomez' transfer to Fiorentina, and also spending half an hour with the media. fcbayern.de listened to the question-and-answer session.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge on...

...progress at the training camp to date:
"Pep is totally satisfied, not just with the weather, the hotel and the food, but also with the training facility and the way the team is pulling together. Everything is positive at the moment. Trentino is like home for FC Bayern because everything is wonderful. We laid fantastic foundations for the treble here last year, and it's important to return to somewhere like this."

...targets for the new season:
"We won the league in style last season, and we want to defend the title, although we obviously want a good to very good role in the cup and especially in the Champions League. No team has ever managed to retain that trophy. That might be something we want to go after this season."

...big rivals Borussia Dortmund:
"We expected Borussia Dortmund to put in a huge effort and get after us, and that's good. They want to make life hard for us in the Bundesliga and Champions League. I think it's an exciting prospect."

... Mario Gomez' impending transfer:
"We're just working on the final details. They want to unveil Mario in Florence on Thursday. We're losing a player with a magnificent record. Mario was a good player to bring to Bayern, and he's always conducted himself properly and likeably. There's a World Cup at the end of the season, and he wants to be a regular for Germany. He thinks his best chance is to go to Florence. I'm sure he'll have a successful spell there. Mario will help Italian football, and contribute to Fiorentina moving even higher up the table. The people in Florence are very enthusiastic because of him."

...any other potential transfers:
"It's still relatively early, and we don't have any concrete plans at the moment. But let's wait and see what happens in the market. We're known for occasionally doing the unexpected, as we did with Javi Martinez last year. If anything reasonable became available, we'd talk it through internally."

...Franck Ribéry:
"We had an astronomical offer from England for him back in 2008, but we said no. The decision sent out a signal. We indicated we're not a club that sells players it wants. Franck has been crucial to our recent success. We're very happy with him, and he's happy in Munich."

...Arjen Robben:
"I was exceptionally happy that it was he who scored the winning goal in the Champions League final, because Arjen has taken a lot of criticism over the years. I know he's obsessed by football, and we've won important trophies thanks to him. I think the crowd have taken to him now, but I always knew he was quality. And it wasn't for nothing that Pep described him as a gift. The statement tells you all you need to know."

...public training sessions at the Säbener Strasse:
"We're the last big club in Europe to hold any public training sessions at all. Take Chelsea as an example, where even a mouse can't get in. But Bayern have come to a very fair arrangement with the fans, and there will continue to be open training sessions, although obviously there'll still be some closed sessions."

...Breno, who is currently serving a prison sentence:
"We can say with some hope that Breno may be allowed a form of day release, which would be every day from 8 am till 8 pm. He'd have to prove he has a job, and we're ready to offer him one. It would be very desirable in his case."

I like that KHR basically said they didn't want Gomez after praising him. We had a big offer for Ribery but we don't sell players we want

I guess we can assume schopf is out, he was always too short to play DM anyway. Seems talented though.

Pep is mad at Barcelona LINK

quote:

"I told them [the president and his directors] I was going 6,000km away and asked them to leave me in peace, but they haven't kept their word," he said. "I did my time [at Barcelona] then decided to leave.

"I want them to get on with the job and I wish them all the success in the world, because their success will also be mine - I don't need to say what I feel for this club."

Guardiola revealed he had been incensed by the suggestion that he had not made the effort to see Tito Vilanova, his former assistant, when the current Barca coach had travelled to New York for cancer treatment.

"Too many things have happened that have crossed the line," Guardiola told the media in Lake Garda, where Bayern are holding a pre-season training camp. "I will never forget that they used Tito's illness to cause me damage, because it's a lie that I never saw him in New York.

"I saw him once, and the reason I didn't see him more often was because it wasn't possible, and that wasn't my fault. To say that I don't wish the best of someone who was my colleague for so many years is very bad taste, and I didn't expect that."
