Losing assistants is the best thing that happens to Johnny Jones. He has lost two members of the staff and each time has replaced them with coaches who on paper appear to be either on par with or better. If he delivers on the floor over the next couple of years, LSU basketball is going to be a thing again. As soon as LSU competes for postseason births and championships year round in football, basketball, and baseball, I won't be able to get anything done.

McCray has strong connections in the states that LSU has to recruit in as a member of the SEC, and he has a strong relationship with one of the best power forwards in the 2014 class in Craig Victor.

Great hire CJJ!

Some UCLA guys were saying that this should ensure LSU being the team to beat for Victor.

Really a top notch hire. This will help us that much more in the southeast with such a respected name...especially in Georgia which produces some really good talent (Quarterman, for instance).

Huge plus this might seal up Craig Victor.

If I'm UCLA I still recruit Victor but with McCray at LSU now the Tigers are going to be hard to beat for him.

good hire. mike sanders was my top guy but you can't deny mccray has some recruiting skins on the wall.

Remember when the Rant was ready to run him out for not hiring Randy Livingston?
