Emergency Truck Kit

I want to put together an emergency tool kit for the truck. What are some things you all keep in your vehicle for use in case of emergency (anything from a flat tire, to a blown radiator hose)
Item number 1 for me is going to be a floor or bottle jack. I've changed a tire on a full sized truck with a scissor jack before, and NEVER again will that happen.
After that, I'm thinking duct tape, a couple screw drivers, crescent wrenches, pliars, a good lug nut wrench, road flares, WD40, jumper cables, tow straps, para cord, ratchet straps, work gloves, and a few rags.
Anyone else have ideas/advice?

a 4 wire trailer light extender, a 4 way tire wrench, a 30ft tow strap, ratchet straps, zip ties, duct tape, small electrical kit with couple feet of 16 gauge wire, some wire nuts, electrical tape, and needle nose with cutters, extra trailer hitch pins, a couple shop towels, various trailer balls, work gloves, good pair 20ft long jumper cables, wd40, tire gauge, flashlight, basic mechanics tools (pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers), replaceable fuses needed for your truck
If this is an older truck add 1 qt motor oil, a gallon of water, 1 pair extra large pantyhose, small bottle of fast orange hand cleaner.

It'd take half a day to type everything I have in mine.
The key is lots of universal stuff like channel locks and crescent wrenches if space is an issue.
One of those 150 piece tool sets is nice to have but I would put emphasis on channel locks. One of the most useful tools there is if you have good ones and know how to use them.
Have the right size socket to take the front axle nut off.
Kroil.
Plenty screwdrivers
Tie wire

The only things I can think of in addition to BPs list that i have in my tool box are a shovel and a bow saw.

Sounds like you are well on your way. I'd add two things, a 12-Volt compressor, with plugs and fix-a-flat, and a First Aid Kit, I carry a fairly advanced one.

good idea. Tire plug kits are very cheap, very small, and easy to use for small punctures.
I've never used Fix-a-flat. Can it inflate the entire tire? I have a hard time believing it can fill up a big 20" rimmed truck tire

Totally agree. condense to multi use tools. And channel locks and vise grips will save your arse more times than not. I have not bought one of these yet but they look interesting:
You will also not hear me say this often but, in this case buy cheap tools. You will not use them often and durability will not be a big deal. Harbor freight is your friend.
One other tool if this is an old Chevy make sure you have a socket that will fit the universal belt tensioning pulley and a short cheater bar to be able to slide over the wrench.
and make sure you still have the factory tool or a substitute to lower your spare if needed.

I once stopped after buying a Chevy 4x4 with a rebuilt engine when it lost acceleration despite the pedal being on the floor and discovered that the throttle cable was jumping off the throttle body. I repaired with a piece of wire from a retread I found on the road after walking nearly a half mile. That repair was still in place the day I sold the truck 4 years later

I keep a couple extra tail light bulbs and trailer light bulbs in my glove box. Also if your going all out, a volt meter is a good tool to have if you have any equipment/boat/etc... you pull very often.

Board or heavy plywood in case you have to use the jack in the dirt or other soft ground.
