Fishing under Perdido bridge Gulf Shores? UPDATE Pics page 4

Taking my yearly family trip to Gulf Shores/Orange Beach in August, and naturally would like to do some fishing. Staying at Turquois Place about a mile away from the west side of Perdido bridge.

Last year I took my first inshore charter out of Zekes, and caught one red and quite a few blues under the bridge pilings with pogies. I am staying so close to the bridge this year, I was thinking of bank/surf fishing the area for anything that will bite.

Are artificals worth using with the deeper water depth? I always read threads on marsh fishing for reds, but do not know how it translates to the deeper waters. The only thing I hate is being limited to the bank.

Any suggestions for the area? I would really like to catch redfish if possible, but I definately dont discriminate.

I'm assuming you are talking about the Pass, but yes, you can catch all the blue fish you want beneath the bridge. You're options are pretty limited if you don't have a boat, especially since kids will be diving off of the only piling accessible by foot. I've caught pompano on sand fleas throwing at the sea wall from a boat, you couldn't pay me to stand at the seawall and fish with that crowd

Yes Perdido Pass...Thats what I was worried about, being limited to space under the bridge. I am used to fishing from private condo in Fort Morgan, but this year we are staying in the tower which will mean no beach fishing . Im sure I will take an offshore trip one of the days, just wanted a quick spot to kill some time.

ETA: Now that you say that, I do remember it being a zoo on shore when I was in the boat. I might need to find another option.

OB turns into a different animal fishing wise once the sun goes down, trout fishing at night down there is a blast but you need a boat

Thanks for the information. I might just have to do another inshore charter, I really want to get into some reds...which was the plan last year but it just wouldnt happen.

Looks like any public fishing in the area is going to be a circus.

Let me know if you need a good guide, the majority of the guys down there will put you on nothing but bluefish and waste your time/$

Thanks, I will get with you near time. The guide we had was a nice guy, but i just dont know that he was a "good guide". We worked the docks north of the pass with zero luck, ended up anchoring at the bridge with every other bayboat in Alabama and catching blues for a few hours.....then I got married at 6 oclock If you know of any guides who are more geared towards reds, I think that would be great.

Reds cruise the bank in the pass at night.

Bring a spec light and you can probably get a few plus some white trout if you're willing to put in some time.

Like they said if you manage to find a boat it really opens up the possibilities.

That artificial reef just inside the bay is money for mangroves and flounder.

Do you have any info on Zeke's off-shore trips? Thinking about booking one when we go towards Gulf Shores.

I'll be at Caribe, in a month, should I paddle straight from there or launch somewhere else?

Offshore out of Zekes I have been on Jamie G (36' Hatteras 6 people) which was a BITCHIN trip at only 15 miles out - TONS of snapper and some triggerfish (seas were 10-12, it was a long 6 hours). I have been on Class Act (52 footer 9 people) it was a decent trip with a few snapper and an AJ.

I have never kayaked saltwater, or that area, but last year there were about 5 kayaks at the island just northwest of caribe, and they paddled from the island to the bridge area. I would say you are in a great spot to paddle out of, even going north.

Looks like Broadmoor Condos is just down the street from where im staying. Close to the bridge, and per google earth, has a pier or is next to a pier going pretty far out into the water.
