Damn... guess it is a secret no longer. Guess no Tommy Rowe or Leigh Griffiths

Supposed to be a signing this week. McDermott says he has been working on it for a while. Le Fondre ?

LEEDS UNITED’S CENTRAL MIDFIELDERS – How the battle for places shapes up:
LUKE MURPHY: The signing of the summer so far at a cost of £1million. Primed for a big season at Elland Road.
RODOLPH AUSTIN: Prominent under McDermott – until he was sent off against Brighton. Should still feature heavily.
DAVID NORRIS: Played 34 times last season but underwent knee surgery in April. Fit again now.
MICHAEL TONGE: Made more league starts than all bar four players in 2012-13. Under contract for another two years.
PAUL GREEN: In and out during his first term – in part because of injury – but became the defensive point in the midfield diamond favoured by McDermott.
MICHAEL BROWN: Turns 37 in January but an extension to his deal has placed him under contract until next summer. Last season brought him 15 league starts.
CHRIS DAWSON: A rising star and a Wales Under-21 international whose best years are in front of him.
ZAC THOMPSON: Yet to really break through but would have started the last game at Watford had he not been ineligible.
DANNY PUGH: Transfer-listed for a year and is likely to leave.

Le Fondre
I have a man crush on him, but I can't see us taking another forward... we have McSwag, Hunt, Poleon, Smith... just doesn't seem like room for a top shelf forward.
I think its Rowe or Forrester or both.

We are crowded in the middle and a few will have to leave IMO.
Norris - I like this guy, is good in the attack
Tonge - went to shite after he made his permanent move... surplus in my book.
Brown - lucked into the extension, absolute surplus
Pugh - Sofaking lucky with that contract he got... how is he still here.
I think Dawson will get loaned out, Thompson will feature here and there (mostly off the bench) and get some cup work.
Austin, Murphy, Green are the only midfield untouchables for me.

yea if we keep the diamond i like mccormack up top playing behind a smith/varney combo.
best Xi for me
ashdown
byram lees pearce drury
green
norris austin
mccormack
varney smith
bench - kenny, peltier, warnock, tonge, dawson, poleon, hunt
ashdown and dawson are still recovering from offseason surgery but should be fit in a few days.
i know diouf misses the first two matches at least, is austin suspended for the first one?

I hate the Diamond 442... can't stand lacking width in the attack.
I think Warnock > Drury by a mile
Kenny will likely get the nod over Ashdown because while flashy with great saves Ashdown lets some garbage in (more so than Kenny)
I hope Pearce has improved as a player, but we may see Peltier back at CB.
I think Murphy starts at Center Right Game 1... we'll see what he can do.
I think Norris will play behind the strikers and varney will ride the pine leave McSwag with Smith up top.
Best XI:
-----------------Kenny-------------------
Byram----Lees------------Pearce---Warnock
-----------------Green-------------------
---------Murphy---------Austin-----------
----------------Norris-------------------
------McCormack---------Smith------------
Subs:
Ashdown
Peltier
Thompson
Drury (maybe Aidy White)
Tonge
Varney
Hunt
Don't know if Austin is suspended or not...

I totally forgot about murphy. Easily in the team. Dont like the lack of width either but it seemed to work well after mcdermott took over. If ryan hall and white our our two wide options we may as well stick with it for now. Come on down forrester.

I dunno about this guy... he plays in the Irish League which isn't known of its talent... I'd much rather Tommy Rowe.
The question that I keep asking myself... is would i give up McSwag for Le Fondre. And I can't come up with an answer. Le Fondre is proven at the Prem Level and I have no idea why he was not getting regular minutes on the pitch for them last season. Now I love me some Ross... but I am torn. Would you trade McSwag for Le Fondre?

I dont know. They are different players obviously. Id love to have both. Seems hunt could slot in for ross if he is sold but it sounds like he wants to stay.
Dont know much about forrester but he sounds like the kind of wide player we need and mcdermott has a good track record of finding some hidden gems in the irish league. He could be a difference maker or another ryan hall. Who knows...if we get him on the cheap it could be worth the chance.

2-0 at half against this slovenian 3rd division all star team. goals from smith (3 in 2 games) and hunt.
edit - full time 3-1. poleon on target in the 2nd half. much stronger test saturday.

Lost 2-1 to domzale. The squad that played the final half hour apparently not very impressive.
Posted on 7/13/13 at 7:23 pm to S
I didn't like the starters or his sub groupings... I think he is just testing everyone out, seeing who works well. Heard White and Poleon, showed a lot of pace and threatened a lot early on.

Lost 1-0 to ferencvaros. Sounded like a much better performance than saturday. Had two penalties not given. Apparently the ferencvaros supporters weren't on their best behavior either...monkey chants at austin and throwing chairs on the pitch. Think we will see a well rested and improved squad at walsall saturday.

I hope, our attack has seemed pretty shitty so far

Hope we can tie up that mystery fourth signing by the weekend.
