No, leave that alone. It is a drain that allows the gun to drain out water and still function should it get very wet.

That class was harder than I thought it would be.
Cool. I'm retiring in a few more years and intend to go into the firearms business. I'm going to Federal LEO Firearms Instructor School in September. After that, I'll do the NRA schools and teach part time in my retirement.
