I've been buying 3000 shares of this at 5.73 the past 2 weeks and selling off at 6.10......

If you are looking for an ETF that plays off volatility and can play as insurance for your portfolio better get in under 6 bucks and wait for the DOW to drop to around 14000s again........

or MLPFX if you don't want to deal with K-1s and still have exposure.

ya wait till uvxy starts decaying and your stuck in a position. A friend of mine thought he was hot shite with it in march going from $8 to $12 in one day, I told him to stop trading it, now he's crying thats it in the $5's.

Time decay is not on your side

Thanks big fella.......... Your portfolio must be rocking......I mean you are talking about time decay on an ETF that is used to hedge losses.

ok I dare you to hold uvxy and wait for the correction like my friend. I completely understand uvxy, its a series of short term options and its gone nowhere but down over time. As a short term trade its up from time to time, sometimes 30% in one day, hold onto it for a few weeks and let me know what happens

OK..........Bookmarked........

I've sold twice already.......You think I'm gonna hold onto it if I bought at 5.70 and it goes to 6.70........

I'll take my 3000 bucks and run anyday.

But I'm holding at 5.70 right now.

Leveraged ETFs all suffer from time decay, and with few exceptions, they are terrible long-term plays.

For the first six months of 2009, the XLF Financials index was down ~6%. FAZ, 3x inverse, and FAS, 3x long, were down -84% and -64%, respectively. You would have gotten your arse handed to you regardless of what side you were on.

Leveraged ETFs are short-term plays and short-term plays only. Good luck.

I saw tvix which is the same thing was up 8% today, which made no sense to me bc I thought these etfs rose when the market plunged?

Agree. These for the most part are day trading instruments. Anymore than that and the decay kills you.

I haven't held it for longer than a week.........but it's a such a good price per share and moves 4-5% at a day sometimes that you can sell off and get back in within the week.......

Like I said I am in no way saying I'm holding this long term........I just playing 3000 shares at a time and hitting them for sales when I get to .40 limit sell.....its a 1200 dollar clip and in the last 3 weeks I've pulled down 4800 bucks playing 15k at time......

It just a series of Limit orders I have set......

Not holding this at all, I just think their will be volatility all summer.
