Why not include the big wins for ULL?

Also, not sure I'd include a win over Texas as notable, they are awful

series against tourney teams:
won 2/3 vs. Troy
won 2/3 vs. FAU
lost 2/3 vs. South Alabama

Sun Belt tourney beat FIU, South Alabama, South Alabama and lost to FAU in the title game.

No other notable wins I can see on their schedule.

No, he just only listed the top two.

Caleb Adams 14 HR
Dex Kjerstad 12 HR
Seth Harrison 9 HR
Dylan Butler 8 HR
Tyler Girouard 7 HR
Mike Strentz 7 HR
and 3 more guys with 4/5 HRs.

We don't have a small ballpark, it's pretty standard. 330 down the lines, 375 to the gaps, and 400 in center.

I know, some of these posters just have to try to find a way to discredit your bats. I imagine the only thing anyone could say to discredit your numbers is that you haven't faced top flight pitching. Other than that, they are legit.

Right, and even though it isn't SEC pitching, it's not like the rest of the Sun Belt is doing the same thing we are doing to this same pitching. The only other Sun Belt team batting over .300 as a club is South Alabama and that's .302. Next one is Troy at .298 then FAU at .288. We are batting .323 with 70+ bombs. That's no fluke.

Obviously it's not just a proponent of mediocre pitching.

It is all about the pitches... Give Katz or anyone else on the LSU team the kind of pitches ULL have been receiving from these smaller schools and the whole LSU roster would look like sluggers..

OK, I'm confused...none of these guys or their stats show up on their website. Is there more than one Jackson State? LINK

Things I see:

ULL can slug it, normally at least (I kind of knew this before since my cousin is a ULL grad and we talk baseball a good bit). Glenn shut them down in what I believe was his first start, so I feel pretty confident whoever may throw at them should do pretty well. We saw midweek pitching last time, which wasn't particularly good, but doesn't look like their starters are much better.

I don't really see anything that sticks out as impressive for Sam Houston.

Jackson State is pretty interesting to me:
quote:

Home: 19-1
Road: 14-14

They apparently suck on the road this year. Not that it would be a real deciding factor, but surely can't hurt.
quote:

111/139 SB

Also looks like they run the bases a lot. Ross will be busy if they get a lot of hitters on.

quote:

Desmond Russel- 2.34 ERA, 10-2, 8 complete games
Quintavious Drains- 2.85 ERA, 11-4, 9 complete games

Thats a shitload of complete games. I know the quality of hitting is not SEC caliber, but it does look like their pitching is decent, if not solid. It is certainly possible that LSU could come out somewhat flat and let them hang around for most of the game.

In the end I don't see any team that has a legitimate chance of coming out of this regional other than LSU. It's baseball, and it can certainly happen, but chances are slim and I think everyone agrees on that. ULL has the hitting, and JS looks to have some pitching so those will be interesting matchups, but LSU will be able to keep all opposing runs down, and likely will have more than enough offense to keep their games comfortable.

Gotta love Postseason at the box!

That is a hell of a lot of bases stolen and a pretty good %.... I'm sure they will have to test Ross a good bit when they get on too. I doubt they put together 3-4 hits in an inning often to score runs.

Look for Sam to be pretty good and the ULL fans need to focus on the task at hand. LSU played Lamar which is in Sam's conference so you can compare those stats. I think the Bearcats take game one.
