Mason over at BSS/247 outlines possible trade downs and who we might take.
LINK

The Trades:
#6 to Minnesota for #9 and #26
#6 to OKC for #12, #29 and #32
#6 and Vasquez to Utah for Alec Burks, #14 and #21
#6 to ATL for #17, #18, #47 and #50

I'm not happy with any of these, in part because I'd rather one good / solid pick this year than a bunch of middling ones who MIGHT produce one player worth a crap.

The most decent of these is Minny and that depends on us not seeing a player we want at #6 and being willing to move back to #9 to take a shot at Saric, Schroeder, or someone else.

I have to say Gerrity is right in this scenario.

In the NBA you take talent. The further down the board you are the more likely you are to get nothing. Its just a statistical fact.

Bennett is a great offensive player. At worst with him I think you have a very good rebounder and bench scorer.

But I think Bennett will be gone by 6, anyway.

Per the stats on 82 Games, he's a good defensive point but his offensive production is subpar.

If he were that good, Utah wouldn't be desperate to be getting a point this offseason.

Any chance of a trade scenario that would involve #6 to Minnesota for #9 and Alexey Shved?

Its also not possible as you construct it, because the draft takes place before signing a RFA is possible.

(I'm well aware that players can be picked and then traded later)

I don't even think that matters though. This type of deal would have to be agreed to ahead of time and since Pekovic would have to agree too, I'm sure that breaks some sort of tampering rules.

Really do not want to trade down, but I would consider that Minnesota offer. We don't need to keep loading up on mid-tier young guys with "potential", and waiting for them the develop. We need to get difference makers ASAP. Whether the players available at 6 (Burke, Len, Mohammed, Saric) can be that guy, I don't know, that's for the scouts and Front Office to decide.

I just want to add one impact rookie (I personally think Burke can be that guy, maybe Shabazz, and Len down the line), a legit vet in FA, and start making a push towards the playoffs, instead of keep expanding on this "rebuilding process."

Is the 6th pick really that valuable?

I'd love the OKC trade. You could still end up with a guy like Saric or Zeller at 12, then get two late round picks and hope to get a solid bench player like we did with Miller last year in the 2nd round, or hope you get a diamond in the rough

The value of the 6th will be determined by what player is left when that pick rolls around.

If we're missing all of our top tier of players, the dropoff in talent from 6 to 9 may be small enough for us to move back and grab a late 1st.

That being said, a late 1st isn't too valuable this year because it means at least two years of guaranteed salary while a 2nd means no guaranteed money if the player doesn't make it to the season.

"This year's draft sucks"

"Well you know what would make it better? MORE PICKS in this draft!"

I wouldn't. Thats competitive suicide. That team is on piece away from constant assthrashing. If they get one of my faves, im jumping. I already got a scary feeling they gonna end up with bynum or somebody.
